How often should I cast protective and energy spells before I start casting circles or summons the angels and elements etc?

I I have many years in meditating and meditate prior to and after each casting session. All my sessions begin at 10 pm. with n hour of meditation and end around 11:30. Is this good?

During the past 8 days, I've done energy manipulation (that is so cool), several protection spells (I feel the power encircling me), banishing negetivity, I've conducted the ritual for room preparation and cleaned & restored energy in my quartz crystal before casting the reflective charm spell.

Do you think this is this a good start for a beginner? Should I do these spells everytime when trying new spells? I'm looking to enlighten my own inner spirits.
