I asked a doctor where i work about this and he was very aware of research being done in this area, but he is a Harry Potter type young doctor , not old school.
He did say if you are going to die of cancer you have nothing to lose by trying the treatment.

Reading further does expose the poor treatment methods available through the existing health system and the fact that they are not very successful.
