So, I?ve been thinking. The general public knows, or at least thinks that they know, of the Four Elements, Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. But, then, our Creator (whomever it may be, not saying any religions), made us out of those very elements: We were formed out of Earth, life was breathed into us by Air, we were sustained by Water, and given emotions, fueled by Fire. But then, somewhere along the line, we changed. We became? different. The very elements we were made from kind of shifted, becoming just a little less like the Original Four. They became less like the Original Four, and more like each other. This slight change became more prevalent as life, and time, passed, and they eventually became One, known as Spirit. Now, Four became Five, and we became something more than vessels. Now, centuries, even millennia, later, we have grown more. But I disagree with one thing on this site. This work we do, this ?manipulation of the energy around us?, isn?t magic. I?d love it if it was, but I don?t think that it could be qualified as that. I believe that this is a work of Spirit. See, none of the elements can overstep their powers: Fire cannot control Water which cannot manipulate Air which has no power over Earth. This is true for Spirit, too. Yet, being a new form of energy, and a sentient, living form, at that, Spirit found a way around this; energy. When energy from Spirit enters an object, it enters Spirit?s domain of control by a small amount, giving Spirit power over that object. But, the more the change, or the bigger the area of effect, the more energy that id required. That?s why huge transfers of power aren?t really easy. Also, the reason why we can absorb energy from things like the Earth (the natural state of it), from Water and Air (by its motion), and from Fire (its heat), is because we initially send a sliver of energy into it, giving us control, and allowing us to use the energy from that element to absorb more, so the longer we are absorbing, the quicker it happens. But, Spirit is a special part of us, as it has a limit, but we cannot fully reach it. If someone were to somehow reach this limit, the effects would be drastic on them; death would be obvious, but it would be by a complete lack of life, of energy, of existence! Also, there are those who would point out that Plants, and Animals, have energy, too. This is because both already contain Spirit, but not as much as humans. Plants are special in that they thrive directly off of the other elements: They need Earth for nutrients, Water for sustenance, Fire (in the form of the sun?s light) for Energy, and Air for the other half of the Energy.
All that being said, what we do could be conceived as Magic. You may call it what you will, and I won?t argue, but I don?t believe that it?s really an otherworldly form of energy, not in the traditional sense, at least.
Well, peace be with ya, and Blessed Be,
