When Spells Don't Work ~ My Explaination
With No Sugar Coated Truths
Moons, days, and times are "aids" not scapegoats for poorly practiced magick. "Will of the Universe" is equally an excuse. It's like sportplayers that say it "wasn't meant to be" for their team to win. No, they need to step it up. The Universe doesn't care about their game, and the Universe doesn't care about your little luck or protection spell. Get over yourself if you think it's effecting your life that much. (Not directed toward anyone, just an outward statement).
I'm tired of people whining and crying about their spell not working. Guess what? Magick is hard work! If your spell didn't work, its because you messed up. You didn't do it right. Maybe you couldn't focus well, maybe it wasn't really in your heart and you have subconscious regrets/doubts that you should do it. Maybe you haven't practiced your basics.
Now you can run away and pout, or you can continue reading and learn something.
Most likely you planned the spell and/or worded it wrong. Believe it or not, wordless spells are less likely to not work than ones with words. Why? Because wording matters. You are focusing on these words, you're trying to manifest these words...how you say it matters! If it can be twisted, if it implies something different, if a word you use has a double meaning, it can backfire on you! Keep it simple and consider what the Wishmaster might do to twist it against you. Ok...maybe not a fictitious sick-minded djinn, but you get the idea! ;-)
Take for example the member not to long ago who wrote a spell that removed all things from the caster's life that created unhappiness, and his mother, after having it done, lost her job. This isn't irony. This isn't the Universe being mean. This is goal and words not thought out thoroughly enough. I gave a few suggested slight changes and the spell was corrected to the way it was intended. But the hard lesson was still learned.
And it takes time to see the holes and errors of a spell. Magick can be dangerous because it isn't as simple as it looks. It's a lot like the old saying goes "becareful what you wish for, you just might get it". You might think your spell is perfect, but what could be flawed is the goal itself, the wording you've used, or your own mind and emotions (what you want verses what you truly want verses what mental/emotional state you're in).
It's all about YOU. Your mind. Your spell or ritual sets up the stage for your mind to focus and direct your energy on the path you desire. Yet if that path isn't made right, our focus and energy doesn't exactly travel to where we intended, although it still acts. See the danger? This is why its important to start small.
When you get other powers or beings involved to aid you, that's like adding rockets on your back, on a poorly planned path. The Coyote smashing into the brick wall while he's chasing Roadrunner...yep, that will be you. Don't blame the power. Don't blame the spiritual being. They just lent you strength, you chose the direction.
How many times have we set up an event or project in our lives that didn't go as planned? We recognize and learn from our mistakes, and do it better next time. And sometimes we realize it was a flawed idea to begin with and see why.
So as you can see, most of the time it isn't that the spell doesn't work, it's that it worked in a way we didn't intend for it to, and therefore we overlook its effect.
