On the first of August many Wiccans celebrate the Lesser Sabbat of Lammas or Lughnassad. This Sabbat marks the grain harvest as the last of the harvest is brought in from the fields. It is also associated in many Wiccan Traditions with the symbolic death of the Horned Lord and his descent into the Underworld until he is reborn at Midwinter.

Given the associations with the grain harvest, traditional foods served at Lammas include breads of all kinds and also beer A Wiccan altar might be decorated in shades of red and gold and include bundles of dried wheat and small loaves of bread to share during the ritual.
