These are just a handful of herbs my mother used on me when I was little. I keep one small pot of each of these in my home. (DO NOT USE ONLY THESE HERBS. ALWAYS CONSULT A DOCTOR)
Blackberry (Rubus villosus)= Helps treat sore throat
Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa) = Helps treat premenstrual discomfort
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) = Helps Heal wounds (NOTE: DON'T USE ONLY THIS HERB. CONSULT A DOCTOR)
Cayenne (Capsicum annuum) = helps Prevent peptic ulcers
Chamomile, German (Matricaria recutita) = Encourages digestion
Cleavers (Galium aparine) = Help Reduce inflammation
Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) = Helps Treat bruises, sprains
Crampbark (Viburnum opulus) = Helps relax muscles
Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)= Stimulates immune system
Elder (Sambucus nigra) = Treats cold symptoms
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)= Encourages digestion
Ginger (Zingiber officinalis)= Treats motion sickness. Helps upset stomachs (works best in tea form)
Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) = Reduces inflammation
Gumweed (Grindelia spp.)= Helps treat cold symptoms
Hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacanthus)= Promotes heart health
Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)= Helps sooth sore throat
Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)= Stimulates digestion
Mullein (Verbascum spp.)= helps Treat sore throat
Peppermint (Mentha piperita)= Stimulates digestion
Pipsissewa (Chimaphila umbellata)= Helps Treat urinary track infections
Plantain (Plantago lanceolata or P. major) = Helps wounds heal (NOTE: NEVER USE ONLY THIS HERB. CONSULT A DOCTOR)
St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum)= Helps treat depression
Scullcap (Scutellaria spp.)=
Helps Ease muscle tension
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis)=
Helps Sleeping disorders
Vitex (Vitex agnus-castus)= helps treat premenstrual discomfort
Willow Bark (salix alba)=
helps treat osteoarthritis
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)=
Helps Reduce inflammation
Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) =
Helps Stimulate digestion
Side Notes:
- Honey helps to sooth soar throats.
(I've always found 2 Tablespoons helpful)
- Marigold helps with bruising when made into a paste and applied to a bruise.
- Horsetail helps with mild headaches. Chew the (WASHED) stalk. Don't eat it fully, just chew the juice from it
