hi all, here is some info on chakras and the stones that go with them.(but bare in mind there is probably some more indepth infor out there, this is just basic info) :)
Chakras
The word Charka is a Sanskrit term meaning wheel and signifies a series of wheel like vortices of energy which exist above the surface of the body and connect through the spine to the glandular centres. There are seven major charkas associated with the body. Another one exists above the head for divine connection and the chakra below the feet for connection to the Earth.
The effect of a balanced flow of energy to the chakra is a sense of wellbeing and peacefullness allowing the body to vibrate more quickly and align to the cosmic forces. Stones and crystals allow us to use of the most fundamental healing characteristics: energy and colour.
The Stones
We are naturally attracted to the stones which are in alighment with our needs at the time. All matter embodies energy and can be thought of as a complex series of frequencies which vary according to the composition and density of th material. In the case of stones, a sympathetic vibration can be established with the body and allow attunement, and the subsequent releasing of tension which block our full expression of the life force.
Stone and which Chakra they are for:
-Red Jasper- Base Chakra
the first chakra is located at the base of the spine and is often described as th coccygeal centre. It is associated with physical energy, the manifestation of the life force and the will to live in the physical reality on our Earth.
As a grounding stone it aids in the acceptance of physical reality and encourages and sustains vitality.
-Orange Carnelian- Spleen
this chakra, located just below the navel, is the emotional centre where joy, anger, happiness, and sadness are located. Creativity and expression also reside here.
orange carnelian is an agate said to be a motivator, inducing the energy necessary to accomplish tasks.It is the colour of joy. When we are joyful we have energy and will and therefore can "takeon the world". It also allows the nurturing of the self which brings about personal acceptance.
-Citrine- Solar Plexus
this centre is located a few inches above the navel and is the receiver of incoming, unseen messages. It is a great power centre often felt by others when projected. It has forces, drive and the will to manifest.
The third chakra is yellow. Like the universal sun, the Solar Plexus is a great spinning spiritual sun. IT projects a dynamic positive image and clearnegative energy to aid in shedding light on problems.
yellow citrine helps digestion which is an action of the solar plexus and brings a note of cheerfulness. It also aids manifestation of desires while promoting personal power. It can strengthen the phychic as well as physical body.
-Green Aventurine- Heart
this chakra is positioned at the centre of the chest near the location of the soul and is called the heart centre because the heart carries circulation and life force to every celll. Unconditional, universal and self love begin at the heart chakra.
Green is the major colour ot this centre and is exemplified in the Green Aventurinewhich is type of quartz to help dissolve unhealthy feelings and neutralize suppressed emotions. It soothes and harmonizes bringing the serenity of nature to the heart centre thereby releasing the constrictions that bind the heart and arrest its healthy operations.
-Blue Lace Agate- Throat
the throat chakra is located in the depression at the base of the neck. This centre governs our ability to verbalize and express our needs.When the 5th chakra clears and begins to open we experience great release. Blue Lace Agate, which characterizes the fifth chakrareminds us of a clear summer sky with the quality of light, air and the grace of the spirirt.
We are reminded that we can float free of ourself-made restrictions. We can intend that which we need and know that ti will be forethcoming. Blue lace soothes and balances the throat centre assisting us in the creative process of manifesting our needs.
-Blue Sodalite- Third Eye
the third eye or brow chakra is located between the brows in the middle of our forehead.It is here that we envision pictures of past, present, and future. The 6th chakra allows us to visualize a creative idea and then implement it. It will give the idea and then physical manifestation and separate reality from illusion. Dark blue sodalite is an awakener of the third eye and helps prepare the mind to receive sight and intuitive knowledge. This dense stone clears and calms the mind for greater unity and understanding.
- Amethyst- Crown
this centre is located on the top of the head. It is the location of access to higher consciousness. An open 7th chakra allows one to experience spirituality in a personal, unique way.
Amethyst and the colour purple are a strong link in the 'rainbow bridge' which connects the Earth and Heavens. Amehtyst raises the spirit to the realms of the divine and creates a sense of the infinite Universe. Moreover, amethyst's high vibration make it a good stone to use during meditation as it calms the mind leading us to higher realms and more noble thoughts.
-Below- Hematite
Hematite is an excellent grounding stone which will help keep you'in your shoes' as you try to reach the higher consciousness. Hematite encourges the practical applications of etherial ideas and links body, mind and spirit. Lofty thoughts and 'cosmic' consciousness need adequate grounding to allow them to come to fruition on earth. We are reminded that we live on earth to learn intergration and bring spirirtual light to work on the material plane. Keep hematite with you during intense meditation, stressful situation and any time you wish to be in the present.
-Above- Clear Quartz
Clear quartz is solidified light created through infinitely repeating silicon dioxide molecules. Quartz is the most highly evolved substance of the mineral kingdom. It has the greatest piezoelctric quality of all the stones which makes it instrumental in assisting to release karma. Due to it's unique ability to be programmed and to transmit and receive energy,it is
the preferred stone for use at the transpersonal point or ninth chakra. On the etherial level it connects us to other light sources, which are in the interdimensional realms, beyond our ability to see.
How To Use Stones
Some may wish to place the stones on the appropriate area of the body, others can visualize colour in the area of the chakra while holding the stone.
