Hi guys, I am new to the religioun of Wicca, so I was just wondering if there are any books i should get from the library or spells I should learn that are essential. Thanks for everything!
a beginners guide by Raymond Buckland or Scott Cunningham would be best. avoid Silver Ravenwolf for your year and a day [To Ride a Silver Broomstick and Solitary Witch are the only two i've heard anything positive about, but i haven't read either] the reason i say this is because a lot of people claim a lot of her writing is inaccurate, and i've watched some documentaries where they interviewed past followers of hers who are now against magick because of what they were taught. not saying this will happen to you, just a heads up.
casting a circle and protection might be the essential spells to know. don't focus on the spells, it's just one piece of the puzzle so to speak. start with meditation and energy work before spells, you need those to cast successfully. once you know how, try simple candle spells, to get the hang of casting.
I agree with him ^
I've seen that a lot of people went completely against it, but I would try reading a Silver Ravenwolf book and see if it clicks, I personally didn't have a hate or like towards them. I would say A Practical Guide to Magick and Ritual is a good one :)
Visualization, and meditation are two musts!
Good luck on your journey!
Namaste :)
I recommend reading on:
Wicca for beginners by Sabin
The Spiral Dance by Starhawk
21st Century Wicca by Jennifer Hunter
Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Cunningham

Hi there, I?ve been practicing Wicca for a good many years now and one of the first questions that comes up is the one about where to start. My suggestion is always to start by doing some reading and studying to make certain that you understand what Wicca is really all about, and so that you can then decide whether this is truly the path that you want to follow. So with that in mind I thought I would offer some books and websites that are full of sound I information which can help you get started on your path.
To start with, here are some books that I would suggest.
''A Witch Alone'' by Marian Green
''The Elements of Ritual'' by Deborah Lipp
''Witchcrafting'' by Phyllis Curott
''21st Century Wicca'' by Jennifer Hunter
''Before You Cast a Spell'' by Carl McColman
''When, Why...If'' by Robin Wood
''Practical Pagan'' by Dana Eilers
''Wicca; A Year and a Day'' by Timothy Roderick

Here's some websites that you may find useful in helping you with questions.

Hope this helps you get a good start on your studies. And feel free to ask me, or the others here on the board if you have any specific questions we can help you with.
