To invite fairies to come around put out a dish with milk, honey, and bread. Remeber to have something for them to do or you will have some fairie choas to deal with. (Your stuff will go missing!) If you don't have honey, sugar will do but you need a lot more of it.

Depends what type you are looking to attract, if it is a ground elemental they will be around plants and if you open yourself up enough and silence your inner mind you will be able to see their movements between leaves and so forth, especially if you are conciously trying to draw them to you, at first they will appear as just random small flashes of light out the corner of your eye or darting past you, in time they will show themselves to you through your third eye and you can then take things from there, always just remember with any being on any plane of existence that respect and patience goes way further than trying to force something. Once they are there if you get random ideas go with it, it is their way of helping to inspire and create through us. Enjoy and PM me if you need any further info.

Some will see them as fairies, others as elemental spirits, others as amplified thought forms, but that all just depends on your own perception, fact is these tiny entities of spiritual energy do exist and can be very helpfull once you have some of their trust or respect, most just choose to ignore it, or they don't realise they are actually experiencing a thought as result of them.
