How do you, as Wiccans, see gender amd gender roles?
Sorry, that sounded a bit bold c:
but, anyways, answer honestly:
Is a M/F coupling the only way to be balanced in the sexual arena? How do you reflect your belief in your practice?
Are men and women opposites?
Do you think careers/duties should be prescribed based on gender?
I've heard many people say things about anger, assertiveness, and lust being masculine (God) qualities and that nurturing and chastity being feminine (Goddess) ones. When I read, that stuff always confused me... what's your take on it?
p.s.-- thank you so so much for opening up and sharing your perspectives c:
sorry if I came across as brash!!

Well everyone is different, so I can only speak for myself on the subject. The line between gender and gender rolls is rather blurred, it doesn't matter to me what gender you identify as [nor do gender stereotypes matter much to me] if you do a certain job, dress a certain way, or like a certain thing, it doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl. When it comes to jobs, I've always believed you should be treated the same regardless of age, weight, religion, skin colour or gender. If you're a hard worker, that's all that should matter.

I know Gerald Gardner was homophobic but that's partially a sign of the times and also reflects his belief male and female energies should be balanced. I haven't met a single Wiccan yet who's anti-gay. Homosexuality is found in nature so most Wiccans I know shrug and don't care if you're gay or straight. In circle I do call on make and female energies, and I do worship a God and Goddess, but I don't care if the circle is lead by two priests or two priestesses [or just one person] in my coven we've got 3 guys, and 8 girls [and a couple random observers who don't take part in the ritual] when we voted on a priest it went to my female friend over the 3 male members [who also voted for her] because she has a rather masculine energy to her, and she's always had the strongest connection with the God.
Are men and women opposites?
Opposite how? Perhaps standing on opposite ends of a spectrum I guess, but I've seen them as equals who embrace each other and work together. Ones not greater than the other [although I feel too many emphasize the Goddess more, but whatever works in their path]
Do you think careers/duties should be prescribed based on gender?
Nope.

These are stereotypical archetypes of men and woman. It's just like the phallic sword is masculine while the chalice is feminine. When you grow closer to the deities you'll find they have more qualities than the typical 'male' and 'female'. The Goddess can be angry and vengeful just as the God can be nurturing and kind. Wiccans usually call on their positive energies over their negative ones, but they can get angry just as we can, they just typically keep on the path of calmness.
