yet another riddle

there is an island tht is inhabited by knights and knaves. knights must always tell the truth and knaves must always tell a lie. one day a stranger visits the island on a boat and calls out are you a knight or a knave the first person calls back but the visitor cant hear him so he repeats the question. the second man calls out he is a knight as so am i. however the third person calls out he is not a knight he is a knave like me.

That doesn't make sense.. the third guy.. if he's a knight, then he tells the truth, that he's a knave.. but as a Knave, he lies... so he's lieing about himself being a knave!?
