Hey there, you can call me MelJea or Mel. I'm not new to the pagan/witchy path, though I have wandered away from it for some time. I've felt something has been missing in my life for some time, and as soon as I began to explore it more I've already seen great improvement in the areas I felt lacking. There's a certain clarity that comes with ritual that I adore.
Anyway, I look forward to re-exploring my path and perhaps finding those new to me.
Hi Mel! Welcome! I am also new. Aren't rituals awesome for clarity? I am planning for the next full moon. I am very excited about and am collecting ideas for it. Is there anything in particular you do in ritual to facilitate clarity?
I suppose there are a lot of things that facilitate clarity. All from the very basics to the gritty details of a ritual. I think it mostly comes from putting yourself in a position to experience the act from the point of intent and not merely a series of steps you move through.
This could mean having a distraction free environment, going over the ritual a few times before actually doing it so you can focus on the meaning and not just what you are doing, the clothes you are wearing, and even overarching philosophies like working with a symbol system that speaks to you on a deeper level. It's really hard to pick any one thing that really produces that ritual clarity and I think certain things are more important to different people. For me I really just try and break down that barrier of "everyday reality" so that I can let go and really experience what I'm trying to accomplish, not just do the steps. I know how unhelpful and wish-washy that answer is though. Haha.
Thanks! I like hearing how people put together rituals. My goal is to be a better planner instead of doing everything on a whim. I like your idea of going through a ritual before performing it.
Recently we had the most lovely rainfall and I collected some in a jar. Right now I am charging it up to the full moon so I can use it for spells. It feels very powerful already!
Yeah, planning ahead is a must for me. I want to make the movements feel natural enough that they don't disturb my focus. That is very key. Don't totally ignore your whimsy though, sometimes we feel the need to do things and understand why later. If you are in the middle of things and you feel the urge to do something different I wouldn't ignore that because it's coming from the right place.
