Hi....I'm Madi (pronounced the same as Maddie, Maddy, etc.).... I'm semi new to all of this..... I started checking out Wicca and white magic back in late June/early July of 2017.... I had started off with things like candles and incense while at home cause it was easier for me to do without anyone noticing and it was also an easy place for me to start (I really like candles).... but now I'm in college and I'm not allowed to burn things in my room (but some how the people down the hall get away with smoking weed and vaping all the time despite the security guard being right around the corner.... *sigh*.... college)...... anyways..... I'm now on the opposite side of the country (US) from pretty much my whole family and I don't have a roommate so I'm able to get away with most stuff (except candles, incense, and smudging (-_-))..... on the plus side there's a spiritual store around the corner from my dorm which is nice..... I'm on a bit of a budget though so I can't always buy stuff but they still help with tips and advice..... as helpful as they are though I'd still like to try and get some help from other people.... if you have any advice on Wicca or white magic that can be done in a dorm room that would be great.... One of the ladies at the spiritual store recently got me into essential oils and I've also been looking up herbs and stuff so if you have an tips on that it'd be great.... my school just built dorms 1-2 years ago and the one I'm in used to be a hotel so I have my own bathroom with a tub so any bath related things I'm willing to give a try..... Just please DO NOT send me any tips/advice that involve alcohol and/or drugs (including weed) I will ignore it..... Anyways .... if you have any tips about anything I listed (that don't include drugs or alcohol) please feel free to let me know.... and yes I know about the dots..... I'm just very.... very awkward...... sorry...... well.... that's it about me I guess...... so yeah..... :)
Welcome to the Forums! Please do remember that overuse of punctuation and typing words all in capital letters are against the rules on this site.
Do check out the Wicca Forums here on this site for some good information. And talk to me about it anytime as I have been practicing for nearly 40 years now.
A couple of tips I'll offer at the moment. Since you can't burn incense you can achieve the same effect with a couple of drops of essential oil on a light bulb. For instance, you could substitute sandalwood oil for sandalwood incense.
And for candles, I have found that the battery-operated candles work just fine on the altar for light. They give the same effect of muted light without the danger of open flame.
While these substitute candles won't do the trick for spells, there are other ways to go about spellwork. Take a look at my post on cord and knot magic athttp://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=884121 This is something easily done in a dorm and which would not be apparent if some nosey person encountered it.
Baths can be great for purification before ritual, meditation,, cleansing negativity, etc. You could purchase bath salts for these purposes at pretty much any spiritual store. Or, if money is an object, you can make your own with sea salt (which you can buy at the grocery store) and the appropriate herbs. Just mix it yourself when you need it.
