Familiar

I have noticed over the past week a cat following me. It is always the same cat, and this is very unusual in my area, as there are few cats, and none go outside in the winter. I attempted calling a familiar to me, is it possible this cat is it? No one else has seen it which is very confusing though

A familiar is not a physical creature. It is a spiritual one. Therefore if a real live cat is following you it is not your familiar, it is a stray cat.

As for others not seeing it, perhaps they have and it simply didnt register in their minds.

Ask around and see if it's a lost cat also. Someone could be missing their pet and it might help them alot to know it's been found.

As for it being your familiar, familiars can be spiritual, but some familiars are physical. Maybe try interacting with it? Or you could do some sort of divinationto see if it could be your familiar?

As has been said, a Familiar is not a physical creature, that's a medieval superstition. A Familiar is a spirit which is bound to the Witch. You can read an excellent discussion of Familiars at https://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=857694

I had a cat called Bella who would always join me in my witchcraft and i believe she helped empower my spells. I would class her as a familiar, if you don't then that is fine but as i class familiars like that as i have no other way of explaining it in a magickal form.
