Combat magic is a very... Changable subject. Magic has no color nor lighting... I suggest to search how real magic works. And cast a protection spell for your family and friends. But learn your basics first...
Look. If you want to learn "real" magic. You'll have to leave fantasy. Please don't expcet to be able to throw people away by waving your hands or controlling the elements. Real magic is done by learning basics first. Moon phases, colors, herbs, stones, meditation, day and moth correspondances etc. You can always cast a protection spell. Look them on the site.
True combat Magick is not what you think it is (there is defense and there is offense, though it is truthfully very similar energy being utilized). It dates back in almost every ancient tradition and culture out there, so I would sugguest researching traditions across the world and start with the ones that call to you.
First and foremost, however, is to get a grip on the basics of Magick. These are the things that can be found or used in any practice working with non-physical energy.
Mentors. I suggest you take it upon yourself to learn. To study, to gain knowledge. Then by what you have read, ask others, for your questions will be formulated better, for you have some knowledge.
Esi is correct, learn your basics, study them. How can one build a house with no foundation?
I agreed with all what Eis and Zalkari said above.
Firstly, basically you do not need a teacher to develop you skills and gain some knowledge in the craft. You can teach yourself, practice and become more skillful. You just have to learn the basics of magic, and then you will see that it will become easier and understandable. Keep working on your skills, learning more and developing your path , improving your understanding about the craft , etc.
You will see that all of these things are about yourself and what you practice, do and believe. A teacher won't really do all of these things for you. Thus, your path is something you have to develop by your own and learn to understand better. It is your own journy.
Although it is not really necessary, it can be helpful and recommended. Teachers will not spoon feed you, they will just lead you to the correct directions and will give you advices from personal experiences and knowledge. But yet, I'll point out again that it's best for you to be the one who chooses what steps to take and what directions to follow.
As I said, there is nothing you can't learn and practice by your own self, but if you really wish to have someone to lead you to the right direction you can have a mentor or a teacher.
You can find people who wish to mentor / teach in the advertisement forum, or in people's profiles. You can also find someone that you trust, who leaves close to you.
Please remember that you have to trust the person and be sure that he actually has knowledge and experience in the craft, because there will be people who'd lead you to the wrong directions and teach you wrong things. Just be careful and know what you're doing.
Secondly, , the basics ( which might change from path to path ) are required aspeoploe have already told you. You cannot do anything in life (not only in witchcraft) without starting out with any category's basics and beginning baby steps. This is a very well known thing and rule of the the life. For example, take a building. You can't build a house or any building without starting with the first floor. If you would not start with building the first floor and start building the other ones - the building will simply collapse and be ruined. Same about magic. If you jump immediately to spell casting after you start out - you will get nothing, waste time and probably fail. SO I agree with every word that Eis and Zalkari said. you've got to do something before you decide to move on to other forms of magick that we can find in the craft.
Also, please listen to what Eis told you about understanding the craft.
