You could do protective chants, shielding, and things of that nature. Why, may I ask, are you wanting to do magic at school? Could you not simply do it at home before you got there?

Both of those seem like something that would be hard to do in public. People would notice him drawing the shapes, and potions aren't just something you can make without people noticing.

plenty, magick is about energy and focus, not items. so if you find a quiet moment [say you're sitting in the back of class during a lecture] you can charge energy, visualize your desired outcome and send the energy out [could say a chant in your head, or simply visualize/feel the energy leaving your body]

if you study symbols and/or sigils you could use them as well. as with above, charge energy, visualize, then draw [with your finger so no one sees but you] a symbol of power and have it attract/repel what you desire. a simple one i do is hold the tip jar at work, draw a money symbol on the bottom with my finger and visualize it overflowing with coins.

you could also look into shielding and grounding as energy techniques you could practice without others seeing [i use to practice seeing auras in public]

It really depends on you and what you need to cast a spell effectively. Personally, school stressed me out a lot. If I were to cast anything there, it was generally just a mental chant to de-stress and get me through the day.
If I'm casting anything into the universe though, I need to feel comfortable and peaceful when I cast it, so I usually do so outside or in my room. School wasn't an option for me. So like I said, it depends on what you, the caster, need

I've done spells at school, not full on rituals with circle casting, but spells that involve chanting. As Nekoshema said; magic is more about energy and focus than items. For example: a spell could say you need to light a white candle, well you could have a million (not literally) white candles burning and if your not focusing than the candles aren't doing you much of anything. Also, I've done Reiki at school. It's pretty much drawing symbols and focusing and it's not that hard to memorize a few symbols are take pictures on your phone of some and just take out your phone when your going to draw one of them. Just don't expect something like birds to appear after you say a chant.
