Honey is the golden sugary liquid produced by bee's and extracted from bee hives. It has used since the beginning of written history, dating back to 2100BC,though it is likely to have been used before it. Cave paintings Spain shows bee keeping occurring well before 700bc.

It was the first sweetener to be used widespread around the world. In the bible, Israel was commonly called "The land of milk and honey" In ancient times honey was used as a currency. In the 11th century AD, it was used to pay tribute along with beeswax, among German peasants to the land owners.

Honey was not only used as a food or beverage but in making furniture polish and varnish, and cement. In Norse times up to modern times, it is common to be used to make mead, otherwise known as the 'nectar of the gods'.

Honey is best kept cold, and away from direct sunlight. While sealed it has an almost indefinite shelf life, but it will eventually crystallize. Many beekeepers will make the crystallized honey, specifically for the purpose of selling it. It may be frozen, but is generally not needed.

- Medicinal Uses-

Honey has been claimed as an almost miracle drug, and has been medicinally used for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Mixed with cinnamon it is claimed to help prevent, cure or assist with a variety of diseases, including: heart disease, arthritis, bladder infections, toothache, high cholesterol, colds, upset stomachs, flatulence, Immune system weaknesses, Indigestion problems, influenza, pimples, skin infections, cancer, fatigue, and hearing loss.
Externally it is found in skin care, and aging creams, and is effective in fighting minor burns, including sun burns.

It also helps promote longevity, weight loss, and cures bad breath, honey contains botulinumend spores, and should not be given to children under one year of age.

A few drops in a cup of tea helps a sore throat, and when put in the ear, is effective in fighting ear infections

-Magickal uses-

Honeys governing planet is Venus and its element is water. It can be used in fertility spells, drank as mead in rituals, and energy cleansing in baths. It is also sometimes used as a healing agent. A few places suggest creating honey jars, to sweeten or mend a relationship, to help money come your way (specifically from a loan officer) and help in legal problems. Honey is said to draw faeries to you, and is also commonly used in food and potions. It makes an ideal offering to the sun, and nature spirits. Honey may also be used for seduction and binding spells.

It is said that its properties change depending on the flowers that are used.

Peppermint has long been known for both its great taste and its soothing medicinal properties. Many people use peppermint leaves, brewed in tea for example, to soothe stomach ailments and other mild illnesses. Fresh peppermint and peppermint leaves have long been used for these purposes, both in traditional medicine and in modern terms.

Traditional uses of peppermint
Peppermint teas, made from fresh peppermint leaves, have been popular preparations for many years, and they continue to be used today.

In addition to soothing the digestive tract and limiting indigestion, peppermint leaves have been shown to help alleviate the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Fresh peppermint and peppermint leaves have long been used to treat stomach conditions like IBS.

Other uses of peppermint
Peppermint has also been shown to retard the growth of many varieties of bacteria and fungi. It's thought to help relieve symptoms of allergies and asthma as well.

When shopping for peppermint leaves it's important to find a source that uses modern manufacturing techniques, and who does as little processing as possible. If the peppermint leaves are too highly processed they could lose a good deal of their medicinal value.
Growing your own peppermint plants is the best option for the freshest leaves.

Peppermint is generally easy to grow, and on top of providing a great scent, growing peppermint around the perimeter of a home can help discourage ants from entering the house.

There are many ways to prepare peppermint leaves. But the most popular way to prepare fresh peppermint leaves is to brew it into a tea. The aroma of the peppermint as it steams can be just as therapeutic as the peppermint itself, so be sure to breathe in the scent of the peppermint to maximize its healing value.

One popular way to brew tea from peppermint is to use one or two teaspoons of dried peppermint leaves. Pour very hot, but not boiling, water over the leaves, and cover the cup to prevent the valuable volatile oils from being lost. Allow this mixture to steep for 10 minutes, then strain and drunk as tea.

Those who suffer from frequent nausea and other stomach ailments have a choice of drinking such a peppermint tea, or using one of the many enteric coated capsules made with fresh peppermint leaves. Both approaches work well, but it is important to know which approach is best for your particular condition. When drinking peppermint tea for chronic stomach problems, talk to your health practioner or nutrionist and let them know what you are doing.

Peppermint can be rubbed against funiture walls, and florboards to cleanse them of evil and negativity.

Its bright green leaves and crips scent lead to its use in money spells and prosperity spells... the eaiest of which is to place a few leaves in the wallet or rub where your money is kept.

peppermint oil(natural unsweetened) put on cottom balls tossed in the attic will repell rats and mice 99% of the time. and its child/pet safe... you can use it anywhere actually, but the need to be renewed monthly in high air movement area...

Sulphur Powder

In Alchemy, Sulphur is one of the three components, with Mercury and Salt, that make up base matter. Mercury is the mind/spirit; Salt is the will/body; Sulphur is the love/soul. The 3 are said to make up the Philosopher's Stone, which can transmute any base metal or character into golden perfection.
Although not an herb, it is most often searched for in our herb section. The word is also commonly spelled Sulfur and the mineral/element is also known as Brimstone.

Powdered Sulphur relates to the Sun, and the element of Fire. In magic, sulphur is used in exorcism and protection spells. Sulphur powder is used magically in incense for hex breaking, protection, fire magick, banishing, “counter magic“, and exorcism. It is also used in ritual baths and floor washes.

CAUTION- It smells very tame, until it is lit, then the scent is very powerful. Personally, I think the scent is quite interesting. Actually, if you light a match and blow it right out, you can smell the sulphur and decide for yourself. Sulphur is found near volcanoes, where it is formed after volcanic eruptions.

A simple, but powerful purification incense:
You might want to try this outside to see how it smells, before you try it indoors...
Blend together 2 Tbs. Dragon's Blood, 1 Tbs. Sulphur, 1 Tbs. Asafoetida, concentrating on your goal. When finished, hold the incense in your strongest hand and concentrate on your goal. Take a small amount of incense and place on hot charcoal and allow to smolder. Repeat as needed.
This can be used to clear a home of unwanted energies. Use caution. This odor is extremely powerful and may linger! Burn something pleasant to smell afterwards. Make sure the incense is burning in a heat proof container, open the windows, and do not breathe in the fumes, if possible.

Sulphur Power, or brimstone

This is a mineral rather than a herb. It gives off a noxious odor when burned. Used mystically to cleanse and detoxify. Used to dispel or prevent a hex on you. Burned outside the house it wards off demons. Destroys an enemy‘s power over you.

When using the magical properties of herb it's really that you are working more with their energies. So find which herbs you need and work with the energies of them to create for example loose incense. Just make sure that whichever you use is appropriate and that if you are going to burn them, it's ok to inhale it, or if you wish to make like a tea, remember to find out it's ok to ingest, etc...

There are a lot of ways to use the energies in herbs, if there is one way that you can think of that you are unsure of, let me know and I'll work with you on it Sugar
