Are you to the practice of magick? If so and aspect of magick are you studying at the moment. Wicca, Basic Witchcraft, so forth and so on? By knowing this others could better assist you.

TKD, you should look into Shinto. It's an Asian, specifically Japanese, religion which is all about spirits existing within all the elements, all the sub-elements, and pretty much every aspect of nature.

In a classical mind frame...you should attempt to master all 4 elements this will lead to the element of Spirit and in this your magick shall be strong and true.

Just my 2 cents worth

I am sorry I will adjust my statement. In Chinese spiritual studies there is not SPIRIT elemental as as person claimed.

Here just google this for a better understanding Wu Hsing, I have Wu Hsing meditations on two of my websites but those sites are not part of this discussion.

I could be mistaken but yes spirit is part of Shintoism of sorts but it is still not considered as part of the Asian elementals. If I am mistaken could you take a moment and post a link that shows spirit as part of the elementals.

Nope, Shinto does not list Spirit as an element. However, there are other religions in Asia which do list Spirit as an element. Usually, however, they teach it as a part of ourselves just as it is often taught here. There are places any many people who consider it an element, but even those that do often view it as something other then the other elements. Like an off-type of element.

I wish you all the best on your new path of wicca. Speaking as a fellow wiccan I will stand my my first statement and see keep the elements in balance as you work with them. Each has strengths and weaknesses. Each can take power or lose it to another element. By keeping Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit in balance your practice in Wicca will only be strengthened.

Be also mindful that here at spells of magick we have a large number of magickal groups, and paths. If you are looking for information specific to Wicca it would be wise to mention that. Others may offer you great advice from within other aspects of magick that for that path ring true but for wicca the advice may not be so good.

As you are new to the path I offer you 3 book titles that you may find useful.
1. Complete Guide to Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland. This book is used by many individuals as well as covens for the core year and a day training. It covers many of the basics of Wicca in a easy format. Like our old school books at the end of each chapter there are questions posted to make sure you have learned all that you needed to.

2. Wicca The complete Craft by DJ Conway.
This book is simular to Bucklands. It is also good for a year and a day training. To be honest both books have advantages and disadvantages but this book may or may not be more to your liking.

3. Elemental Magick by DJ Conway
Well to be honest i would start with either of the first 2 and then move on to this one as it goes more in detail within the elementals.

I am in my 30's and I have only studied Witchcraft for 16 years with the last for as part of a coven. I can send you a list of basic wicca 101 and other such books in PM if you would like. My wife and I have a extensive collection of books as we both spend a great deal of time studying.

(When I started magick the book stores had a half a shelf to perhaps a shelf of books, and the internet was not what it is today, or even close to it. Now the poplar book stores have wonderful collections. Be happy that you are able to take advantage of these open times.

I suggest Scott Cunningham's books; Wicca, Living Wicca, and Earth powers as you start your path. I do agree with the 5 element philosophy however I have a different take on the idea of what the 5th element is. To me it is your ''spirit'' as one with the universe. It is not enough to know the 5th element, you must be connected with it. I also suggest practicing elemental meditation as you read about the topic. This is done by taking one of the elements such as fire and meditating on it. You can also combine the elements to grasp a better understand of them, such as fire and air. As you meditate think about how the element or elements behave and react to other forces.
