There is no reason to "entertain the thought" because the thought is illogical.
All children are born, to a degree, psychic and with the ability to see between the worlds (spirits). This happens whether or not the parents have the same ability. For example, infants will cry when someone holding them is nervous, angry or anxious. Since they cannot read body language or see (let alone understand) facial expressions, they must be "sensing" the vibrations of the energy and thus we can classify that as being an "empath". Every infant does this, regardless of what mom and dad can sense.
Genetics has nothing to do with it. Nurturing natural abilities can play an important role though. Knowing that Mom is psychic and seeing her work on her gifts encourage a child to be in tune with theirs. That doesn't make them "more psychic" than the child whose parents are Muslims. There is no "magickal gene". It's something available to all people. Yes, some people are more naturally gifted or inclined to advance in their path quicker than others, but this has to do with determination and willingness to learn. It has more to do with the evolution of the soul. Last I heard, the soul is not determined by the actions of mommy 20 years ago after a bad night at the bar.
Please dont put stuff out there that I did not say, Im not claiming there is some secret magickal gene. To make this thought more logical for everyone instead of put it as breeding, and it will actually be a good idea if someone put this plan to action. Imagine a society like a town and everyone in the town studied magick, and devoted their entire life to magick and furthering of magick, and even in schools kids were offered free classes in magick and supernatural related subjects. Weaving magick into society would be a beautiful thing.
No thanks. I shall decline from joining your secret society/town.
Personally, I like the lack of reverse segregation. ;)
The above is my main complaint for the following reason: you are simply separating people by their beliefs. Honestly, the world is trying to move away from the segregation, rather than create new segregation under a different title. It's like Martin Luther King Jr. (those in the magick community who are trying to promote understanding and acceptance) and Malcolm X (those in the magick community who wish to create separate schools and communities)...now tell me who won that battle?
My other complaint would be that many of those who are practitioners, are limited in their views of the world, and so they do not get along with their brothers very well, or not at all. Within the magick community some of us are like some Catholics and some Protestants; we just don't get along. Not saying everyone doesn't, but you are trying to bring vastly different views together and it will be very difficult to do, with everyone meshing.
Those are just the first two things that popped into my mind however, so I probably left off the million other reasons your idea would be a challenge to do.
Theocides you can have your dream, get off the computer, grab your friends and start canvassing your hometown. Nothing will be accomplished sitting in here pondering it.
Again with putting words in my mouth that I have never spoken, I never said anything about secret societies, or segretting away from the world. You live in the fantasy land that you are always right and argue against stuff that was never even said. I am saying that if the magick community was alot more connected and a place or a town they could go to and talk openly about their beliefs without being ridculed or shunned. Can of a university type setting just with magickal knowledge and magickal knowledge isnt stopped short by Wiccan belief (which arent mine). I am not saying people who live there are dictated to follow magick and only magick or they shall be banished kind of thing. For instance just like how Hollywood is the place to make it big if you are in acting. How about a place to make it big in magick. Which ultimatly having a place like this would solve the problems in magick because it would be able to dive deeper into the mysteries of it and create scholars of magick.
You arguement also contradicts itself, your saying that all these differant views cant live together, yet isnt that a segregational thought right there. I live in the US which is so diverse that people live together and it works out just fine. I am Buddhist and my martial arts student is a strong christian. Yet I respect his faith and dont hate him for it, and also the other way around. My girlfriend is Catholic and again Im Buddhist, so I think that argument about magick is to diverse and there will be conflict is mostly false.
I said some people will fight and scratch and bite. That's just the way humanity is. Some people will probably call others fluffy among other things. The reason why this community on here gets along is because it's online; so you get mad at someone and you log off, done deal or you get a moderator to fix things. Honestly, if you dropped every serious member of the site on here in the same area...some of us may try to kill each other because we just don't get along, while others will be sitting around discussing each others' practices and paths, and others still yet sitting alone because they can't be around certain people and they know it.
Sure, some of the people on this site I'd love to meet, others I'd be tentative about, and still others I'd never want to run into in a million years. I'm sure other people feel the same way because, like I said, not all of us get along, but also that some consider others' personal paradigms either wrong or fluffy. I can see some of the members of this community pointing at me and calling me fluffy because I have odd beliefs.
Honestly, things like this need to be thought out because they'll work just fine in an optimist's theory, but not in a realist's one.
Then again, as I think someone said before, why entertain an idea you never intend to go through? It's like a man in a desert sitting dreaming of water, you keep sitting there with ideas in your head and what you envision will never be true.
That said, I'll still decline joining this group if it ever forms, I kinda like my privacy and my town not being known by the whole world as a center for magick. :P
>.> Thinking about it now the government may decide to do a massive 'Let's take everyone to the funny farm because they are obviously insane' thing. Oh, also anyone living in the surrounding towns who doesn't know what magick really is and does would be freaked out as all else and might move for fear of nasty witches. These are just a few among other issues. >.>
Well I might go through with the idea of unifying the magick community. When I am a more experience, and respected practioner. I only have a mere 7 years under my belt and I have a long ways to go, but I will see where life takes me. First thing first for me is the furtherance of my martial art. People will fight and bicker amongst themselves no matter what so having a magick university/town wouldnt make much of a differance, but if anyone would like to try this experiment before I do go ahead please post your results it would be very helpful to the magick community. At last, I dont think there is that much left to say, so I would like to conclude this thread. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, And Neorsa debating with has been fun, I will look forward to the next thread.
