In one hand, I myself believe that anything and everything is possible, due to my faith in Christianity. But on the other hand, I am also skeptic about many hings as well, taking a cautios approach to things is what I would favor, but its not my natural ability to do so as well. :P

but magic defies laws of physics. because u cant think things into existence, the mind is completely subjective, mind alone cannot alter the physical construct of reality through just pure thought, because thoughts are nothing more then neurons firing off electrical charges to generate thought. consciousness is also nothing more then a biochemical construct, in which is defined as "a number of feed back loops to create a model in relation to distance, to others, and to time"-michio kaku

I think a lot of people are skeptical because a lot of things they have given a chance didn't work.

The real problem, and it has been for an awful long time, is mixing magic with the supernatural. In fact with religion.
There is nothing supernatural about witchcraft/magic. The ancient witches had their spiritual side; of course they did! They believed in the Gods, just as everybody did in those days. But it had nothing to do with the work that was done by witches.
In Europe, witches were persecuted because they were condemned by the Christian Church of Rome; because they still believed in the "old" Gods. And also because the witches had a reputation for healing. The Church wanted only their own priests to do any healing. Because they were "living the life of Christ" who was "the great healer". The Church could not allow anyone "not Ordained by God" to heal the sick!
In the later years of Christianity, women were allowed to "nurse the sick". But only if they gave up a normal lifestyle. They had to, literally, become the "wife of Jesus".
And so the rumours grew. The legends, the "folklore", Witchcraft was evil, and therefore magic was evil!
The witches could cause crops to fail; cause illness; cast spells; fly about on broomsticks; change into animals.
It is often thought, by a great many people, that the Catholic Church burned and hanged witches because of magic.
It is simply not so! Witches were hanged and burned for "witchcraft" by their own neighbours! The Catholic Church put people to death for Heresy. For believing in the old Gods instead of Jesus.
But we still get stories of "witches" being killed by the Catholic Church, Such stories as "The Salem Witches" that had nothing to do with the Catholic Church!
But, for two thousand years we have the same stories, over and over again. Mixing magic with religious beliefs.
