You can use everything what you want .Herbs which you have grown by yourself will be more attuned to you and let say soaked with your intend .I grow my own herbs ,but i also collect herbs from the wild (as i always leave offering and spread their seeds so i know iwill find them next year .)Always make sure you left few plants to selfseed !And i do not have problem using dried herbs from supermarket .Actually many supermarkets sell some of the most common herbs ,such basil ,thyme ,nutmeg ,coriander ,black pepper and so on .For more exotic ones you may check online .
