im going to tell you now that in Ayurveda medicine, herbal uses is just an aid to our diet. you need to understand what you eat, and cant eat, and add herbs into your diet that will help your diet. you cant just say this herb will be universal to everyone that is trying to lose weight. to say that you want to know any herbs, and not tell people your information, you will get a lot of herbs that can help, but probably wont. it is an insult to tell people to tell you all the herbs, and not give them the information that they asked to narrow down the section into a couple herbs that actually really will help you.
I think that is because cinnamon, as well as other spicy foods, contain capsaicin (the chemical responsible for the "hot" or "spicy" taste in a lot of various foods). It is known to kick start the metabolism and help to burn fat cells (of course with the help of excercise and diet).
skiing33.. Your approach Ayurveda medicine is a cultural perspective, which makes it one sided. Now once AGAIN if you would read the post you would have read I know the diet is of importance and what herbs AID in weight loss.. Not what herbs are going to cause weight loss. There is no insult to ask for general information about herbs that aid in weight loss but what is an insult is someone who presumes! You are presuming the herbs are for my weight loss and not for general information or possibly a family member or friend..
One herb that works great in aiding weight loss is cleavers (aka stick tight). They are hard to confuse with any other herb, and are really good for you to eat. The texture is horrid, but the taste is similar to salad greens or spinach. You can also make a tea of the herb. It is high in vitamins and minerals, and very low in carbohydrates. My mums old herb book says that it is used to "melt the fat off ones hips and abdomen". Adding brewers yeast to your diet can also help with both loss and gain. It is high in nutrients. It will only make you gain if your underweight due to lack of nutrition.
Herbs are not the only way to go however. The right combinations of proteins can help reduce hunger, as well as speed up your metabolism and help burn fat faster than normal. Try some 100% Whey protein powder and take some powdered lettuce leaves, and make a smoothie or something drinkable. The cellulose in the lettuce actually takes more energy to digest than it gives you, and protein powder helps curb hunger. They actually work very well together from past experience.
