Fluffy Questions, like "How can I become a vampire?" Yes those I'd reply a sarcastic remark, but not what I'm meaning. Other questions, that are sensible, google I'm not saying not to search. Like I said Research is essential, but Again not everyone learns the same way, and to come off cruely, or just not going to help them cast them to find out everything for themselves is not the best thing to do sometoimes.
Unirelivent, no one "made" you fluffy. There is a wealth of information on the internet, far more than many of the old timers ever had growing up. Do not blame others for your own ideas.
There is a very big difference between someone asking for an answer to a question, and someone asking for an answer to a question they have tried to understand through their own research, but are stuck with.
That is the difference between helping and spoon feeding. There is no reason in this day and age that anyone should ask a question without having first attempted to find the answer them self.
When I started out on my path, there was no internet. I couldn't google to my hearts content. I had to sit down with books, ask members of the community for help...to which you were pointed to another book, and work by trial and error.
Today, with every bit of information you could ever ask for at your fingertips, people come to the chat or forums and expect an entire lesson laid out for them simply because they asked for it and didn't bother to find out on their own first and THEN ask for ideas and opinions to help them form their own.
As it is, this place is filled with to much regurgitation. How many more times must the same answers be said both in the forums and in the chat? Even if you do answer, more than half the people asking will argue with you, refuse to listen to those who have been doing this a while and flock to the kiddies willing to mislead them with false information. It gets tiring.
Research first, observe second...then ask a question.
Furthermore, the excuse that some people must learn with the help of others is a bit poor. If you can learn by someone typing to you, why can you not learn by reading multiple text based answers in various locations?
If the person needs that much personal attention to help them, they should seek out a person in the community through the local Pagan group.
Valid point. Well said. I'm not encouraging spoon feeding . Yes today we have Google and other searches. And yes some people are lazy and don't utilize resources. But you still will get people who find this site and have not anything but curiosity. If you ask me Newbie forums could be use an update. Repitition can be also caused by people just logging on. A lot of the general questions will be asked. It's young people. And I am not saying to "spoon feed" but so quick to scream "Google!" Sometimes being helpful answering the general questions or questions that may seem simple to you with your own knowledge is good to do. Screaming "Google" is not always best. Again everyone learns differently.
how can me a as a baby teach another baby ;p.... thats what happening in the world but we r arrogant, made us acting as though we knew things..... in real we dont know anything actually... ;p
You may not know anything, but others know things. Others have knowledge that others do not have. Another thing to address, this is another observation I have made, That members that have been here a while have an arrogant ego. Also I see through what they say in chat like "new ideas" are not possible that what they know is the only information on a subject . There is a saying, "you can teach an old dog new tricks. "
In my honest opinion, a question is a question and shoul be answered. Do you think school teachers say "Same ol' basic question. Go google it" ?? I don't think so. They're teachers because they enjoy teaching others a subject that they're passionate about. If you don't want to answer a question, then don't. But don't say anything about it at all. Not even "Google it." because that's just being downright rude.
I can understand that you get sick of seeing the same ol' basic questions, but if someone is actually interested and willing to learn about the beliefs that YOU'RE passionate about, why shove them off like they don't matter? What if that was your own child, or family member? You wouldn't shove them off.
I, being a tudor for BASIC Algebra, hear the same questions over and over again. Sometimes by the same person, multiple times, in the same session, but nonetheless, I keep my patience strong and answer their questions.
