hi Kamberit, how are you? since you're new, you should post in the welcome forums so everyone and meet you. ^_^
now then, i feel when you ask for a spell to change them into something else, they are misguided, nicely explain to them what magic can and can't do and hopefully they'll understand... or they'll fly off the handle calling you out and don't believe you at all, either way, explain yourself then wait it out. people's views change, when i started out, i was terrified of the rule of three so i never cast spell ever for anything. now, i don't even believe in the rule of three. i believe if you do a lot of good or a lot of bad something might happen to you, but i've seen many good people have bad luck and vise versa to believe in karma. i believe it works, but rarely.
people casting love spells over crushes are never going to go away. the same rule applies as with the impossible spells, calmly explain the good and bad of casting on another person. i have been giving out love spells to people as young as 14 and as old as 40, when you want something bad enough you get this attitude of 'to hell with the consequences, nothing can be worse than this.' i'm reminded of one of the opening scenes in Practical Magic when a woman comes over hysterical demanding a man has to leave his wife because the woman can't stand not being with him. they cast the spell for her, but Jet's last line in the scene 'be careful what you wish for' is so true, but people don't think about that when there emotions get the better of them.
i wish i could somehow get new wiccan's/pagan's to read through some articles and books to learn what the religion is, instead of thinking you can be like the people in charmed, or scare people who picked on you in school, or be 'anti-christian' because they don't want to be christian anymore, or whatever other reason. there are so many resources on this site, but everyone comes here for the spells. i'll admit, when i started out, i did, but when i saw the articles, i looked into them as well. if you ask me, give people time, but they should have the right footing. if there was some way of making them answer a few questions to see if they need a teacher it would help a lot. but this is long enough lol.
Yes, sadly they are not educated. There is really nothing we can do except rant and educate them better. Yes, I do feel offended by the fairy tale version of witchcraft. There are diffrent forms of witchcraft.
I may be new to the whole thing and I may be only 15, but I find it offensive when my friends talk about it like its just a sick joke. Hollywood has had the same impression on me up until now ._. Now I realise that its not something out of a fairytale like Abracadabra, now give me a pony! It comes down to really thinking and being receptive to many things...
1: Ones who want to follow a religion and fully understand that it's a religion and not an episode of Charmed
2: Ones who watch Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and hear the word Wiccan (In Buffy the witches commonly calle themselvs Wiccans and not withces) and think that's what Wicca is but are willing to learn after finding out what it is
3: One who joins believing that Wicca is like on TV and will fight to the death to defend their point of view in belieiving that Wicca/Witchcraft is like on TV when people explain it isn't
4: The ones who are seemingly mentally insane and already believe they are some mythological being already from the second they join this website
5: Goths who think being a Wiccan is cool
I kinda started out as the second one maybe thinking that magick had no limits but in my two and a half years as a Wiccan I've learned more and am now the first one
While the majority seem to be the third one and a couple of the fourth it's true stupidity can be cured with knowledge but idioicy is a lifetime
For the record I do dress a little goth and stuff such as my obsession with odd colored hair and gothic objects and clothing so don't assume ALL people who like that are fake
I think i'm more offended by the idea of the name Wicca, being a fertility cult that's actually very exclusive being used by all manner of people leaving it beyond confusing as to who is a member of an exclusive fertility cult oath bound to secrecy, and random pagans who follow something else, that due to the nature of it being so readily thrown around just confuse the hell out of me...
I tend to be more open to a Wicca follower who has proof of lineage, or a person who just calls themselves a witch, because the generic term just opens up questions where it's easier to learn what they are actually doing...
The unrealistic expectations are in my opinion like science fiction to our science, maybe one day it will give us cool ideas and we will do something at least creative with the crazy ideas, and it's nice to teach the difference between reality and fiction to those willing to learn.
I think the major problem is that the vision of Wicca has long been skewed. It was made to seem evil, bad, or unnatural by people who didn't want their kids to practice it. Since more teens now are becoming rebellious, they want to do all of this stuff that they believe is "bad", and it honestly dusgusts me that one of those things is something I hold very dear.
I do not feel offended, because a few years back I was just like them. Younger wiccans do not truly understand the meaning of the craft, and use it for trivia purposes, but no matter how they are now eventually they will learn, and if they choose they do not wish to follow this path, then they have had the experience.
I'm not gonna coment enything but I just want to say I personaly like this forum because adults and teens commenting here truly speek from the heart and soul to stand for what they bilive in.
i dont mind that people try new things to find themselves but when they do it becuase they think its cool it offends me then they go with steryotypes. If you are one of these wiccans dont do it becuase it seems just "cool" to you. do it becuase you beleive and want to follow it with your soul.
