We experience bad events in our life so we can learn and grow from the experience. We experience anger, sadness, and fear because it makes us better people to feel that way and use those feelings for what we need.

very good suggestions!! you could also burn white sage prior to meditating that clears the area of negativity..I also strongly suggest doing a circle before meditating...if you do not know how to create a circle you are more than welcome to in box me or if you feel more comfortable you can Google it..may I also suggest using a whit candle(s)..sending you positive guiding endergy

well there are different ways of meditation, when I feel depressed it's always for a reason, there are things I need to learn and let go. sometimes I start crying for no reason at all, I know it can be painful at times but cry, just let the tears flow. when we meditate we get in touch with our higher self and so we open up to our self, our past, we pick up on energy's that are flowing around us and energy's that are directed at us. try to draw down the divine light in to your soul, draw it in trough your crow chakra as you see in your mind's eye the white light passes though the core of your body, lighting up all your chakras then spreading out form your earth chakra and rooting it self in the earth down to the core, when you have come to this point you need to see with you mind's eye your self travelling up the pillar of light to the point where you see the world before you. then form you heat chakra channel all the divine light you possibly can toward our planet, and in that light you send all the love you have to give, forgive all that has been done to you and forgive all that you have done, forgive your self and for give the world. when I do this I often cry, but after I cant stop smiling and I feel lighter not just in my hard but physically to. hope it works for you too.

PS! it takes some practise, if you loose you consideration when your drawing down the light and rooting your self to the world and start thinking of other things you need to start over.
