lol, there are some funny posts here. "Its the darkest black magic out there" lol.

Spirit Seers teaches about necromancy. I'll post an exact copy of two of the threads I posted for you all to see and get some idea of what necromancy is. The thought of it being dark is something that cowards and story tellers dreamed up to make telling about it more interesting. It's about respecting those who have passed on, what is dark about that?

Copy and pasted from my thread titled "Mancy" in the Spirit Seers coven. You can find more from other threads there.

"A common misconception and misunderstanding of the ''mancy'' suffix.
Most people assume it means magick,
so that ''pyromancy'' would refer to fire magick,
but this is wrong.
Mancy means divination.
So ''pyromancy'' is fire divination.
Likewise ''hydromancy'' is water divination.
It is not just magick in general of that element.

I am posting this to clear away the misconception of necromancers.
You see, if you commune with the dead then you are one.
Most of you here are most likely necromancers as well,
even if you do not raise the dead or anything like that.
A necromancer is someone who communes with spirits
for the sake of wisdom or knowledge,
for divination.

There is more to the modern day necromancer then simply that,
but that does not mean the classical necromancer is any less
then they were so long ago.
Any of you who commune with spirits for the reasons listed,
wisdom, knowledge, or divination,
are classical necromancers."

Copy and pasted from my thread titled "Necromancy" in the Spirit Seers coven. You can find more on necromancy there.

"Considering what I explained in my ''Mancy'' thread,
I thought I should give a basic lesson of necromancy here.
Necromancy is the act/art of communing with spirits
for the sake of knowledge, wisdom, divination, or various tasks.

I will not teach anything
that can be considered disrespectful
to either a spirit or corpse!

Especially spirits.
Necromancy revolves around
the cooperation and participation
of you and a willing spirit.

Here are step by step instructions for basic practice.

Step one: contact spirit.
Initiate your meeting with a formal greeting and compliment.

Step two: make an offering.
This doesn't have to be a fancy ordeal or even a sacrifice,
just ask the spirit if he/she would like you to do anything.

Step three: request the spirit's aid.
Explain your situation or desire to the spirit
and ask for his/her help or intervention.

At this point the spirit will either accept or decline your request.
If it is declined,
respectfully accept his/her decision and say farewell.
Then seek out another spirit.

You are more likely to get better results
from the spirit of someone you knew either in this life
or in another life prior to the one you have now.
This includes your spirit guides,
who are here to help you anyways,
although if you request anything that affects anyone else
they can turn down that request very easily.
Again, should your request be declined,
accept it and say farewell respectively.

The key to successful necromancy is respect.
Contrary to the stereotypes,
successful necromancy is 100% about respecting the dead.
Never forget that."

I would also go as far as to suggest there are several variants of Necromancy, including those that work with Death first and the actual dead second.

The traditional view is of the corpse divination, with some re-animation thrown in to distort the truth along the way.

The traditional practice deals directly with spirits although it was often practiced in graveyards or around fresh corpses. Stereotypical is what brought in more stuff to do directly with the dead, although resurrection is possible. Reanimating a corpse, at least to me, sounds more like giving it an artificial life and turning it into a puppet which I believe would be disrespectful to the dead and thus not a part of traditional necromancy since the traditional art required respect for the dead. Resurrection is more along the lines of helping a spirit back into his/her own body which is not disrespectful at all.

I believe it is also possible for a spirit to inhabit the body that was once possessed by another spirit, but that spirit would not have his/her own memories from the previous body since the brain would not be the brain from that previous body and that is a lesson I may go into more detail on when I have the time to.
