There are several beings which have jackal heads in Kemet/ancient Egypt. Anubis/Yinepu is just one of them. Naming off a few, there is also Wepwawet, Sed, and Khenty-amenti. There are also several others that sometimes take the form of a jackal headed being, like Aset/Isis, Ra, Amun, Nit/Neith, etc. There are also Egyptian netjeri/spirits (like thousands of them) that have jackal heads, not all of them are related to Yinepu or the other jackal headed Netjeru/deities. The spirit of Pe is one of these netjeri.
The ankh is an almost universal symbol in Kemet. To state that because a jackal headed being is carrying an ankh, they must be Yinepu is one of the most inappropriate things I have ever heard in regards to identifying a being. Yinepu, like several other Netjeru, carries an ankh not because it's normal attire for Him, but because He's offering life to someone (human). His normal symbol to carry is the was sceptre, not the ankh, as it represents his power/strength and his ability to carry out his duties (not all of which relate to the Duat/Underworld).
Please, if you are going to try to make blanket statements about Kemetic beings, deities or otherwise, spend longer than a few seconds on a google search. Pull out one of the thousands of scholarly texts available to anyone with a library or a credit/debit card, or even find the online pdf's written and put out for free by the Oriental Institute.

Kemetic Netjeru, when not fluffed all to the Duat and back, aren't sitting around waiting for a phone call from anyone (even Their devotees don't get this kind of special treatment). Perhaps in other pantheons, the gods are just lying around waiting on some human being to call on Them so They can do muscle flexes, but Kemetic deities have duties to fulfill in order to keep the universe going. If one of Them stopped to tie Their shoes, the universe would halt in place until They got finished and on Their way (which is precisely why they have netjeri under them to do certain tasks, iru, and kheperu).
Nor do many deities (in any pantheon I know of) simply show up when called upon by humans. It tends to take the cultivation of a relationship, a real relationship and not "give me stuff because I want it".
You set up a special space for this relationship to occur in, whether that be cultivating a mindspace that allows Them to be present in your every day life, in setting up an altar or shrine, or even just a tiny space where you can set a little representation of Him. Giving offerings of food, water, candy, etc, would be good.
It's not that you are or aren't worth His time. It's whether you actually want someOne to have a relationship with, than someOne you are looking for a few fun times with. Real Kemetic Netjeru are big on community, big on love, big on sharing. The New Age fluffed up thoughtforms that parade around by Greek names might be willing to have a few fun times.
Wesir/Osiris would be a better one to ask about the afterlife. Yinepu guides a person to the Duat, but after that the Duat Netjeru (Wesir in various forms), Sokar, forms of Ra which exist only in the Duat, etc, and the various netjeri (there are lots ) take over. Only the dead and forms of the dead exist in the afterlife. Everyone and everyOne else moves in and out in their individual dead and "dead" forms, but the living can't go there. Not even Aset/Isis can visit Her husband in the Duat, which is why She is eternally both a widow and a maiden.
Snakes, frogs, etc, as representatives of the original Netjeru and those beings which existed in Nun before creation began can move in and out of the Duat, which is why Heru-sa-Aset (Horus, son of Isis) has a (snake) ka which can deliver messages to His father.
There's tons of Netjeru associated with the Duat, but few of Them associated with the part of the Duat reserved for Wesir, the Akhu (dead people), and other dead Netjeru.
I'd much rather stay far away from the Duat myself, because outside of Wesir's place (the Field of Reeds) the Duat is essentially ten times worse than the worst imagined Christian hell. It's not a fun place, it's not a safe place, it's not a place you want to go without the right words and the right guides.
@ Arisa, little confused, the duat is a bad place? In my research [not religious, I have always had a fascination with Egypt since childhood] the Duat was a good place ruled by Osirus. If your heart wasn't worthy it was eaten by Ammit and you suffered, but I didn't think it was in the Duat. I thought that was the "heaven" people were working towards.
I don't work with Anubis, and there are many jackel heading beings in Egyptian mythology, but if you wish to work with Anubis, go for it. You should take it slow and build a bond instead of going 'he's the god for me' and begin shooting requests in his direction. Easiest way to get on a deities bad side. Prayer is an easy way to communicate with a god, but I would start with offerings and prayers of thanks and worship before praying for a new car or something. Frankincense and myrrh for example, but research what herbs, oils, incense and perfumes were used during mummification as Anubis would probably favour these scents more. Making a shrine or alter dedicated to him and meditating before it could also help you connect with Anubis. Keep in mind you might not receive an answer the first time, but if you receive a no, or no response after a month or two, you should probably move on as Anubis doesn't wish to work with you at this time.
