I too have been thinking about this lately. My rituals to heal someone ( over a period of time..) are having little to no effect, but destructive workings are way more effective.

Become as intensely happy about doing the healing or blessing whatever spells, as intensely as you would have been angry while doing the curses. Easy. But not.

I am hardly happy but not depressed , I know what this sounds like but I do only get happiness from seeing people I hate feel pain
well if i can take a page from Avatar The Last Airbender. Zuko was filled with rage and his driving force was to capture the avatar. when he finally came to terms with his anger and joined the avatar, his firebending was almost non existence. he learned that his bending was fuelled by anger, and once he gave up his hatred, he couldn't connect with the element until he eventually found the true source of his energy.
this could be your problem, perhaps you should deal with your inner turmoil first, then connect with the universal energy around us, then you would be able to cast many types of spells not just to harm. curses work very similar to [example] love, its just the emotional aspect. when you wish to harm someone, you focus your anger, when you wish to help, you focus your positive feelings, like love. its the same energy, and the same technique is used, but your thoughts need to be positive or negative to receive the desired result. look into deep meditation, balancing your chakras, cleansing, perhaps talking to someone [friend, family, or professional] if the reason is deeper.
letting go of anger? well, since you're an avatar fan, i suggest you start by watching The Guru. it won't be as quick or simple as decribed, but the explanation of chakras and how to open them is well done in this episode. this article can also help:
letting the energy flow can help you achieve balance and control your emotions. deep meditation is as it describes, the more relaxed you get, the deeper in your mind you will go, confronting buried issues can help you let them go. cleansing can help but it effects the energy, cleansing [which there are many methods] your body and home can clear away negativity and help you focus on the positive energy.
if the anger comes from something like a betrayal, or guilt, you might wish to talk to someone. through meditation you confront these issues alone, but sometimes we need someone there to lean on and talk with to gain clarity and strength. some people write their emotions, and this does help [like writing a letter to those who have wronged you and burning it for man can lift a weight off you] but sometimes you need an outside perspective and someone to comfort you when you are low.
again, back to Avatar, the episode where Zuko catches a cold and Iroh tells him it is not a normal cold, that he did something that went against his personal beliefs so his body is going through a change, basically a battle of good or evil. [book earth episode 18 The Earth King] lol sorry to come back to Avatar, i am assuming you are a fan, but it is a very spiritual show and you could learn from certain episodes.
