The astral plane can look exactly like this physical plane, except for when you try to turn the knob on the door or something your hand goes right through or you realize that you don't have a hand or a body.

Or, you can intuit that it's exactly like this physical plane, except that you can see all eight corners of a room at the same time and that's unusual for a physical plane (because it's not the physical, it's the astral.) Or you think you know where it ends but for some reason it started copy-pasting itself somehow so you can move as fast as you can to try to outrun the room that you're in but you'll never even reach the wall. Sometimes you'll feel like there's a wall where you know there shouldn't be one and can't see it.

Sometimes it's nothing like the physical plane at all. There are cities made of sheets of glowing ice that isn't frozen water. There are grassy marshes that unfold and fold-in like a box puzzle, like a tesseract. There's an ocean without a bottom, without shores, without a surface, and without tides or currents--I'm not actually even sure that's really an ocean.

Everybody who goes there sees something different, and people who go there often might see something different each time.

It's a very silly place.

can you meet others?

I haven't been able to because of the aforementioned silliness. Like, it would be easy to prove this if you shuffle a pack of ordinary playing cards, and don't look if you leave them face-up on a bookshelf. Right? Then you go to the astral part that looks like the real world, look at the suit and number of the card that you're not supposed to know, and come back and check.

On the astral plane, that card might have an infinity symbol instead of a heart or spade or clover or diamond.

So, meeting somebody there might have the same problem. They might not look like themselves. You might hear them say or do something that they say that they didn't. You might look at the same thing and remember it differently, in a more confusing way that people in the physical world can look at the same thing and not agree about its nature.

From my experience... there are different "levels" of astral projections. In a first or basic level you can see the world as you would see it in a "normal" state of consciousness. However, it is possible that you can see aswell disembodied entities... which in fact are allways around.
On higher levels, you can even get to see the fabric that weaves everything.
