By awake, it simply means that you are "consciously aware" with the dream.

I also wanted to ask this, since Lucid dreaming seems to me is a very intersting subject. I wanted to know can lucid dreams be or feel very real like from every thing, from the taste, smell, touch, sight etc. I heard that lucid dreams feel that way or is that more of astral planes?

Yes a lucid dream can feel very real. Possibly even super realistic.

They are different but you could potentially Astral Project through a lucid dream.

Tanner 'lucid' dreaming merely means that when you are asleep in some of your 'dreams' you 'know' your dreaming, nothing more. Once you know your dreaming you can 'alter' the dream experience yourself 'rather' then let the dream do it. This does not mean that you will 'not' wake up. You will wake up as usual from any sound or someone shaking you.

dreamwolf ; Lucid dreams as stated are just as real as your other dreams. More so because you yourself can alter the dream as I said above. You can fly for instance. Something that can 'also' be done on the 'astral' tho that world is 'not' subject to your whims as there are 'other' beings on the astral. They are NOT the same thing. In a dream you are within the world of your own head. On the astral your on a plane of existence that others also occupy..

I know that lucid dreams are very realistic, but do they have to be in color? I've had dreams that were very vivid and where I could tell I was dreaming, but most were black and white, even though I mostly dream in color. Is that normal?

I never willed to dream in black and white, but my guess would be your lucid dream could be in black and white or in color, depending on your wishes.

Is there something you can do before going to sleep to help you realize that you are dreaming?
