Yes,some of these are not real things. Also spells which claim to transform into something(like: vampires, werewolves, fairies, immortal beings, dragons mermaid et.) DONOT work. But here love spells and money spells do work if we fast it correctly. Though, your post is partly correct. Hope this helps!---Rinx
A lot of these ideas Holly Wood and pop culture did not start. There has always been folklore and ideas like this, pop culture just borrowed it and expanded it more, sometimes making it ridiculous.
I'll refer to Louisiana (New Orleans) folklore for this.
Both white and black magic are seen in it, but the definitions are unclear and not considered good and evil. There is just a separation. The only thing I see different in the black are folklore for death, controlling, and dominance. Some of that going into love spells. Not everyone uses these categories though, but they have roots in folklore.
Money spells are definitely not a Holly Wood creation. There are works to draw and hold your money in your pocket. Why? Because that is what is important in the culture. So many people still use "money spells" today.
Invisibility and invincibility are related to cat folklore, usually by breaking the taboo of never killing a cat.
Again, love spells are a common want among people, so of course there will be many many forms of how to get and keep your lover.
Some things you did not list are: things to change your sex, things to change your appearance, things to kill someone, wishing works, and some more.
Holly Wood did not come up with these concepts, people did way before Holly Wood. Folklore is something that is used many times and is borrowed. Honestly, many folk hold these things to be true. The rest of the examples, I do not have a LA folklore reference for.
i know most spells that are listed here don't work at all based on what you say. which ones actually do work though? i get confused on some that i don't know if they defy nature or not. i'd like to not be confused. i'm trying to write a book of shadows and i could use some spells that would actually work. i know Hollywood makes a very bad representation of magic, such as harry potter and other movies. they make people think they can do these spells that can't happen and give them religions such as the Jedi religion and schools like Lizkon school of wizardry that follow everything that the movies have.
Then there is the mental problem of disassociation, which is a trauma disorder. You can disassociate to the point of having a second or third presonality, sometimes known as an "alt". As in Three Faces of Eve. If you see your friend turning into a vampire, take it seriously. Somewhere in their childhood they were traumatised to the point they formed a second personality to deal with the trauma. "Alt" personalities tend to be Hollywoodish, that is, cliche, shallow, and have magical powers. "Alts" are very real, and when someone is their alt personality, they think you're strang for not seeing their great power. Very twisted thinking, but if you suffer it, the least little thing might trigger it. Dr Jackle and Mr. Hyde, great example. The alt has the permission to bash windows, kill people maybe, or just be an opposite. Never neglect the human mind and what it's capable of doing.
Raven1995 the spell and the words are not what really matters when you get down to it. Don't get me wrong the words matter, the ingredients matter, and timing and correspondence matters, but the weaver is what is the most important. If you are finding that your spells are not working do some more research and be sure to write in your b.o.s about that. That is what the book is for is the success and failings as well as journal writings and notes etc. You can find a lot of spells on here as well as online everywhere, You can also find some of the classic b.o.s pages for your own personal book to buy. No worries don't give up. Just don't believe in changing into anything fluff. Brightest Blessings.
I'm saying that,what a lot of people call spells,are more than 1 step. It's more of a ritual,I guess. I'm a beginner at rituals,but I think it's something that takes more than 1 step,am I right?
Its all relative kaleb. But what you are talking about is trying to learn magic by watching t.v. No? Lol. I wouldnt put too much stock in things like that myself. But i suppose one could start with occult classics and work their way up tn modern day filming and compile a list of what was actual and not by way of research. Far as i know, no reference like that exists as of yet. You could probably create an entire website based on the idea.
