Wow,that's harsh. Anyways it's not like Loki hasn't had a affair before. He was with Angroboda, then he was with Sigyn. So yes he has had more than one wife.

Marriage meant something different for them than it would for (part of) us nowadays. Polyamory wasn't stigmatised whereas adultery was. I'm mostly sure Loki having two (in some thoughts, three) wives wasn't considered adultery. Skadi seemed to have a different take on things, so it just goes to show that there are differences on the views of relationships even within the various cultures of the Gods.

Well, to tack onto what you were saying Eissy- a lot of the UPG and PCPG I read about Jotnar in general explains that they tend to be very polygamous. They don't have the same kind of concepts about relationships where it's only two partners. I guess they tend to be a little more "open" in that regard.

However, I think within this specific story Skadi took the intamacy with Loki as Loki showing intent to be with her. But he up and left, without even being in any kind of relations with her, immediately afterwards. I think that's perhaps where the bitterness of the whole affair stems from. Keep in mind Skadi is also an ice-jotun, who tend to be a little less receptive to this kind of thing (in general) and can be possessive.

Do you have a source on the intimacy of their relationship? All I have read simply mentions the goat, and then Skadi laughing and trying to have a relationship with Njordr.

I don't recall Loki ever get involved with Skadi. Nor did she pull Him into Her lap. He fell. I mean, feel free to correct me...but I'm pretty sure Skadi never got with Loki.
