Hadit, I don't understand your comment about me.I have never locked a thread. The only posts I delete are the obvious scams. If I disagree with a post, I say so. Just as any member is entitled to disagree with me. And it is quite true, my beliefs are not everybody's beliefs.
I don't know who locked the thread, I didn't name any names regarding that, I have no idea who did, what mods do is none of my business and I've no idea who does what. But the thread was locked just the same.
I locked the thread which had gone off topic and become a venue to flame and argue with one of our moderators and elders on the site...but, as he has posted in another forum you have effectively silenced him. I doubt you are capable of understanding the loss to the site and the thousands of young seekers that come to the site in search of such wisdom and experience, but it is a sad day for SOM.
Hadit...in regards to your "second hand" accounts of things...check out the link I posted here and on the original locked thread that you refer to. The topic, "where are the elders" is a bit of tragic irony considering the recent postings of Brysing. But heres a bit from his post on the link. FIRST hand accounts by someone who lived the experiences. Such a valuable resource, such a lack of appreciation for it.
" I was there when Wicca came into the public domain. I was there to hear Aleister Crowley speak of magic. I was there to meet Alex Sanders, and his wife Maxine. I learnt a lot about Wicca. About magic. About how the Earth works. How the Universe works. How Life itself works
Second hand account when it comes to folk going to witches for services, because I personally wouldn't go myself, why I pay a stranger to do what I can do myself?
As I have posted and have told Brysing through mail, not my intention.
I have said what I felt and which many members who remained silent felt needed to be said, and I also mention at the beginning I respect his voice, opinions, and thoughts. But Wicca, and indeed any other tradition of witchcraft is not representative or the be all and end all of witchcraft. I've already explained why that is.
I have said what I thought, why my opinion should be taken badly and another's is beyond me. I have spoken to Brysing privately and he knows my thoughts, I couldn't care less about anyone else.
My point was not wholly aimed at Brysing, Brysing has just received a lot of fire as of late hence why I refer to an "et al". It is common around here to state "I know about x because I'm a y, which is a form of x, therefore here is the story." When in truth each y only knows one expression of x and therefore can only really state that expression.
I haven't accused him and never have of bullying or being hostile or other such nonsense. I knew this post would be met with adversity, but to be honest, I didn't care. I had an opinion, my opinion was backed by facts, others are allowed to state their opinions, so I stated it.
I hope he changes his mind, I told him myself I thought the site would lose a valuable resource, but I don't control another person nor their decisions, nor did I mean him any harm or ill wishes. I made that clear repeatedly and I won't sit here and be told I scared him off, perhaps I somewhat ontributed to it, but he left of his own accord.
Meh, I'm not going to respond to this thread and allow another to derail in to straw man arguments and distasteful language, I'll happily respond to any complaints privately through mail so long as they are written politely, I don't stoop down to the level of flimsy arguments and the harsh language which others (not you, Linda) were using in the earlier thread, which is why I stayed out of it.
I don't believe that I was ever flaming anyone, I was simply refusing to back down on a point that I believed in. I don't think any of my arguments were irrelevant, badly put, or childish, I also never questioned his knowledge or experience. In fact, it was because of his stature that I found his posts so inappropriate; I personally found that the attitude of someone who is supposed to be keeping everyone else from disrespecting each other to be incredibly disrespectful, or at best thoughtless, and I pointed it out, with the aim of creating a sense of mutual respect, which I have seen is part of the forum's rules. I was not the only person offended, either.
One last reply to a post, for Evergleam. You sent me a private message accusing me of locking threads, and deleting posts, that I disagreed with.
I have never done such things, at any time.It was these accusations that made me make the vow not to reply to posts.
I do not mean that I will never write posts myself. Just that I will not reply to any!
