A true spirit guide should only have your best interest in mind. This sounds like it could be a spirit masking itself as a spirit guide and feeding off of theirenergy, leaving themtired and depressed. Many spirits who mask themselves for energy vampirism attract negative energy and feed off of positive energy, leaving someone in a depression-like slum.
Any spirit can mask itself and play pretend, so you have to know how to protect yourself. A spirit who wishes to steal energy from someone would love to attach at a weak point, especially if someone is desperate for a sign or for hope/help.
I agree with avian. A real spirit guide would always be there to help you in these times. Your negative emotions may be the thing attracting negative entities, and yes, these entities can pretend to be your spirit guide. I believe your energy is what attracts such entities, especially if you are trying to contact spirits and have very low energy, negative spirits may be trying to latch onto that.
There is also the possibility that your guide might not be causing these emotions, but making them noticeable for the purposes of growth.
That said, the others who are warning about being careful, that your guide(s) will only work for your best interest, are correct.
Sometimes, however, working towards one's best might mean working through a challenge. Understanding your own nature, and how to cope with negative emotions is an important part of getting to know yourself. This does not mean your guide(s) will cause these emotions, or that you are experiencing these emotions right now because of any guides. It is just a perspective.
Okay thanks. I was just wondering cause Ive felt with depression and anxiety in the past but its never really drained me like this before. Despite being a very light sleeper Ive managed to sleep through/almost sleep though my alarms in the morning. Which is pretty much unheard of for me no matter how tired I am. Also Ive been having really weird dreams that are really sad and/or scary and I seem to remember them a lot better then most dreams I have. Does that have any to do with the spirit guide(s)/entity?
Even if these symptoms are not common to you, there may be a purely medical explanation. However, that should not necessarily debunk the belief of supernatural influence.
So for the psychological/medical end of things:
If you're dreaming a lot more than usual, and seem to have been dreaming throughout the night, it could well be that you are not reaching truly deep sleep. REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep is the stage in which we dream, and there is debate about how close it is to actual waking. Being a light sleeper, symptoms of depression or anxiety might be keeping worrisome thoughts in the forefront of your mind, preventing deeper sleep. So basically, you may not be getting the rest you think you are.
Additionally, these very same thoughts from anxiety and depression can very easily be causing the vivid and disturbing dreams. Being closer to a waking state means you're more likely to remember the dreams. Their unusual nature would also make them stand out more than usual.
Almost sleeping through alarms sounds like exhaustion. Your brain is not getting enough rest. I've been in this state a few times, myself. Sadly, the only way to beat this state is to get some actual rest -- which is very difficult thanks to everything else going on right now. But I will advise not to give in and get too much sleep! This can be very difficult, especially when experiencing a lack of sleep combined with anxiety and depression.
As you can see, it's all a series of symptoms, compounding off one another. The more difficult it is to sleep, the more difficult it is to cope with anxiety and depression. The more anxiety and depression, the harder it is to sleep.
So here comes the metaphysical part:
If you do believe this is the influence of a spirit or other entity, the only real advice I can give is cleansing, banishing, warding and protecting, followed by inviting in the entities or energies wanted to fill the freshly emptied place.
Some herbal remedies may be helpful, such as chamomile, mint, or catnip tea before bed.
As for a mix of mundane and spiritual practice, I can also recommend a long evening of a technology fast: No computer, phone, television, or other electronic entertainment for the last few hours of the day. Have some materials prepared for reference, and meditate, pray, or whatever other kinds of quiet time you may choose. A bit of reading, incense, ambient music, just being present, perhaps some time outside such as on a patio or balcony (in the case of living in an up=stairs apartment for example), listening to the birds -- These things can help calm the mind, quiet the thoughts, and initiate a long preparation before sleep.
Thanks for the help but the dreams are not just weird like teeth falling out or anything. Like in one dream I was in a store and I walked up to an employee to ask a question and then their face started to distort and look almost like it had been hollowed out, like a person whos been mummified. In another I was in the body of a 10 year old girl who was trapped in a car. The car was sinking into a river and I saw a man on a bridge just watching and he had a similar kind of hollowed out/mummified look and there was muddy hand prints all over the windows. I dont know you might be right and it could just be my imagination getting the best of me. Its just the faces thats have been bothering me and making me think its spirit related.
Like I said, just because there may be a mundane explanation, it does not absolutely rule out a metaphysical influence. There are many who say that spirits communicate with people via the subconscious, or some other level of consciousness. If you believe there is some influence of an outside entity, it might explain the dreams.
Any spirit can mask itself. If you can't do or say things that protect your around that energy, you're in danger. I have a demonic spirit 'guide' (he's a protector) who use to do this, until I made him stop. Now he protects me, and gives me guidance. When he tries to feed off my energy and tries to make me depressed I say the lord's prayer he backs off. However he does defend me against other negative entities. It may want to cause you harm, the energy you're dealing with, so if you want to get rid of it, I advise you blessing yourself and your surroundings. If you want it to stay, I suggest putting it in the line it needs to be in. Demons and other negative energies aren't as easy to 'train' as a dog, but they sometimes do compromise. Demons and poltergeist are different. Demons are easier to befriend, and they just want to be understood. Poltergeists are man made demons so to speak. They were born of darkness and feed on darkness. Both Poltergeists and Demons can hide who they are (Many use little children as a mask to make you feel bad for it, and to let it in). You have to know what you're dealing with before you decide on your next step.
I suggest blessing your space and yourself, before continuing anything else with this spirit. A demon is easier to get rid of (depending on the type).
There's so many insightful comments here. Judging by your question I am assuming that you have attempted or have contacted your spiritual guide with that said I can only add you should always be respectful and cautious when dealing with other worldly beings. Reminds me of a person I knew. She asked to learn how to be more patient. Her car broke down the very next day and I don't know if she learn patience but she did learn to be cautious of what she asked for.
