It not only calms me down and helps me relax, but it's the best thing I've found for meditation. With no worry of over dose, I've experienced many levels of "being high"... and I've yet to have a bad experience with it. It also helps me sleep, which means, of course, that I can better experiment with dreaming.
Erowid has quite a collection of information on Cannabis, including consumer-submitted reports. Again, there is no over-dose potential, and it's not physically addictive. It is against the law in the United States though (among other countries, though I'm honestly not quite sure why), so be careful.
Also, as far as killing brain cells goes...
No, it doesn't do that, either. If it did, my family would be in quite a bad position. But to be fair, if you decide to smoke it, you're still introducing smoke into your lungs, which isn't natural and can be harmful over time, and holding your breath does indeed kill brain cells. But there is nothing in Cannabis itself that causes cancer, or makes your body crave more. In short, it's alot less harmful for you than cigarettes or alcohol... and even Aspirin.
But as SilverVixen said, there is a history of people using it in magic work, and this won't change. I've never felt more spiritual than when I consume Cannabis and fill the silent room with incense and candles, haha. Or even outside... it just makes me feel so much more in touch with everything that matters.
Cannabis has been used in magic for thousands of years.
Ancient chinese herbalism lists it as a cure for rheumetoid arthretis among other things.
Studies show that it promotes brain-cell growth,
in fact it's possibly the only plant that does,
the only other edible I know of for brain-growth,
is Lion's Mane Mushrooms, I have some growing.
What someone people regard as "short-term memory-loss",
is actually new neurons being generated,
once you have new neuron,
it's a new thought.
This is great for learning large amounts of data,
also good for escaping looping-thoughts.
Though note you'd have to be doing something new in the environment,
for instance if thoughts loop, then you must randomize,
as in do something new and different,
taking a walk in the park is usually the best,
nature always has something new to offer,
and you can commune with the nature.
Some people abuse marijuana,
by getting fat and doing same old stuff,
so they get lots of neurons of the same kind.
Marijuana can also unlock the spirit world,
since some people aren't ready for that,
is why some people go schizophrenic,
In tribal settings with Shamans,
there is a guide to explain the spirits,
how to interact safely and adequately,
and how to benefit their fellows.
In short, marijuana is a tool, for many uses.
Just as any tool it can be abused,
and potentially dangerous to the inexperienced.
So if you do decide to delve into it,
be careful, take your time,
become spiritual first,
start with meditation.
I must correct an error posted by KTS about marijuana. I have done a LOT of research on Marijuana including recently attending a class at "Oaksterdam University" in Oakland. Oaksterdam is a training program for the quasi-legal cannabis industry in California. KTS states that one can ingest a lethal dose of cannabis if eaten. This is incorrect. There is no way on the Gods' green earth to overdose from marijuana, assuming we define overdose as taking enough to kill you (by itself). In defining the safety of drugs, the FDA has developed the LD50 standard. This standard provide a dosing level at which have the people taking this much will die. For instance, Valium will cause death in half of the people taking it when ten time the therapeutic dose is taken. Marijuana has no known LD50, though some researchers have put a theoretical number at between 150 to 1500 pounds consumed in 15 minutes. In other words, it is impossible. That said, when eaten, it IS possible to consumed enough to have a very bad experience. This usually happens when people eat, say, a brownie, then 30 minutes later say "I'm not feeling anything", so they eat another and possibly another. These folks are not going to have a fun time, because they will be VERY VERY stoned...for a long time. The only thing you do at this point is to ride it out....but you aren't going to die, even if you feel like you are.
Its also good to remember that the DEA's OWN administrative law judge declared that marijuana is "one of the safest, most therapeutically active substances known to man." It is safer than aspirin. It is safer than Tylenol. It is safer than coffee.
Though there are no know cases where an overdose of marijuana is the cause of death, marijuana can be a contributing factor to some ones death. An overdose of any medication or drug is simply too much of a substance in the body. Though it is physically impossible to inhale enough marijuana to die from an overdose you can however ingest too much for your body to handle. When you ingest marijuana it takes you body longer to process the THC. This can cause one to eat more of a product since they think it is not working. The other danger is when one also inhales marijuana at the same time. This massive amount of THC in your system is not enough to poison the body but it will effect the body by lowering the blood pressure and breathing rate. If enough THC is absorbed into the body through ingestion and inhalation the body will pass out and could result in death by asphyxiation. You can say that it was not a toxic overdose to the body that killed the person but the overdose of the drug caused the person to choke on their own tongue. Believe what you want about the drug. I just would like to see more research done on the good and bad aspects of it. I personally believe that it has more good qualities than bad and would like it to be legalized or at least decriminalized.
i don't know i wanted to understand why so many people use it
just in general has nothing to do with magic
i am from the netherlands and it's legal there
i have tried it my self but felt like i was trapped in my body
my thoughs i could not control them and could not move my body
i could but i felt weird also i didn't want to have anyone around me since i had this kind of experience with it i tried it a few times and it was always like this so now i won't touch it
i even get nauseous when i smell it!
a few of my friends told me i felt like this because i am hyper
and felt unconfortable when using it!
but still it was a weird feeling!
btw i got so hungry after a few hours i was eating like crazy
i sat in front of the fridge and just ate!
i wanted to eat and eat!
so for me this is a big no!
I am psychic and find when I have some cannabis, it makes my psychicness a lot stronger, I see things I would never see when not stoned, I have never used it at my Altar or do any magic with but it defeninately helps me when scrying.
Although there are no records of marijuana being used in magick, it is said that the Native Americans used it for relaxation, sleep and spiritual journey magick. Hope this helps!
every time i smoke it i feel at one with everything, to the point where i can feel the vibrations of everything i am one with nature when i go out to smoke it
Many people, especially in the USA, have seen Hollywood "Westerns" showing the Native Americans "sharing" the Pipe of Peace. The movies always gave the idea that the pipe contained tobacco. Well, it was not tobacco!
