I thought I'd reply to this thread. Okay, I understand where Brysing is coming from as well.

I was born into a family of Roman Catholics. I was Baptized and even Confirmed. However, not all Christian beliefs are me. I don't believe in most of the Christian beliefs. And i dont believe in the Bible either. I do believe in God. and I believe in Jesus. When you come across Christians who say "Homosexuals will burn in hell" or "God hates fags" or "Witchcraft is of the devil" or what have you, those are not real Christians. Those are people who are scared to death that if for one second they slip up and believe or do the wrong thing according to the Bible, then on "Judgement day" or the end of the world, God is going to send them to hell. So their belief mainly stems from fear of eternally being tortured in hell. That is what gives Christians a bad name. But a true Christian is taught to believe in Love, and to not judge anyone. I believe in the Christian God, and the Christian God that i know and believe in, does not judge and loves everybody.

Ive been doing witchcraft for a while now and I am a wiccan too.
Being a Wiccan is about being tolerant to the beliefs of other religions and learning and adapting them into your own belief system. In addition to believing in God, I believe in a Goddess. When I pray (Wiccans and Christians both pray its not just a Christian thing)I pray to God and Goddess. When I do a spell that involves a specific God or Goddess, that is the one I invoke. My Christian beliefs (which are very few) and my Wiccan beliefs coexist with each other in my life. I celebrate Christmas, Easter, Thanksgving, Mabon, Beltaine, Halloween (Samhain) and a number of other special days. My beliefs dont make my magic any less powerful, or any less meaningful.

I also believe that Wiccan and Witch are two different things. Wicca is a religion...Witchcraft is a practice, or a craft. There are many Wiccans that do not cast spells, or have a book of shadows, or do magical practices. But I practice witchcraft. and Witchcraft to me is Using the energy, and the Universe and the beauties of nature around me to get what i need, to help who i need, and do what i need. I work with the elements, and i work with nature and living things as well as Spirits and Ghosts. many here seek to control such things, but that will get you nowhere. You must work with.

So in conclusion, when someone asks me about my religion and what I am I say I am a Christian-Wiccan (Ive been baptized, confirmed, did my year and a day, follow wiccan and christian traditions) but I do call myself a Witch because I practice my Craft.

I already posted it! People are entitled to believe whatever they wish, and to call it whatever they wish. "It harm none, do as you will." It just seems to me that many young people are being depressed because of so many versions of belief. All I am saying is this, name it what you will; Wicca, Wiccan, Christian. All religions get corrupted over the centuries. And I have said, if you wish to mix religions, fair enough. I gave up the Catholic Church many, many years ago. And I studied many faiths before I came I came to witchcraft. If whatever you believe gives you comfort in this vale of tears, then that's okay by me.

Oh,dear! So much misunderstanding!
What I posted is not just a matter of semantics. It is a matter of belief; and I do not condemn any belief!
So,let me make it quite clear. If you believe that Jesus was God-made-man then you are a Christian. If you do not believe it,then you are a Pagan. You cannot be both.
No doubt there are Christians who work with magic; but that is not witchcraft; nor is it Pagan. The early Christian (Catholic) Church decreed that any belief other than Christianity was Pagan. It cannot be clearer than that! Other Christian churches may not agree with the Catholic. But the Catholic Church of Rome remains firm; witchcraft is Pagan.

Brysing, the general argument is that if you're not catholic than those centuries old decrees that actually created the world "pagan" do not apply to you. haha.

And I figured you weren't really condemning anything. I just figured pointing out how it appeared would get you to clarify. And it did! As always, I grateful for your point of view.

When I was in the bookstore today I saw a book called "The path of a christian witch" by Adelina St. Clair, which may be helpful or interesting to some on that path

The catholic church was not put into affect untill empiror constantine, himself a pagan, decided that christians should have they're own temples and priests like eveyone else. In his own beliefes he fused the sun god with the son of god. (Weird)

Witchcraft has no theology. Its not a school of thought but a school of practice. Therefore, as christ never talked about magic, its perfectly applicable to be a christian witch. Just not a christian wiccan.

It seems to me Brsying is a Wiccan, that being said, Wiccan is not all that old. Regardless of all the rest, it is truely upto the practitioner what they decide to practice and it is not for the rest of us to say they cannot.

Does that not make us as bad as those some of us decide to complain about? Does that not make us as intolerable as those who are intolerable to us? We want to be treated with understanding, and some of us cry out for understanding, but we roar down others who also want us to understand them? Christian witches are on the same path as the rest of us, we all practice a form of magic, no matter what the differences and religious preferences we should be able to get along without insulting or harming one another in any way fashion or form, however we do not. Look to similiarities rather than differences in your lives. Rather than see them as the enemy see them as brothers and sisters. Rather than call them hypocrits, call them individuals, non-conformists, different people, weird people. Why do we who are different, who call ourselves different and special yell down those who do as well? It is intolerance that breeds intolerance. Your intolerance of them causes theirs of yours and more and more in an endless cycle.

Also...Satanic Rule 8:

Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
