ok well here we go, The Bible was written by people and their own biases changed and influenced what was actually written into it. They interpreted what God had originally wanted them to know from their own experiences. So if they were a pagan society then they would have seen that this one God would only want him to be worshiped. He is a jealous God and he is Abraham's God when he came from Ur. So the Christian God is essentially a God of Ur, which was a polytheistic, so it is likely to say that the chief God of Ur would have been the moon God Nanna. Take this into account, if the Christian God is a God of Ur then there would have conceivably been others that were worshiped in that city, since it was polytheistic. Abraham was most like a henotheist though and chose to worship this one God as his own, like many do around the world. So God's jealousy is that you may revert and go back to one of the other Gods. Most Christians forget about where and how our God was taken from.
Well to start... Wiccans dont bash christianity. Its basically against our religion to "bash" others religion. We talk about it to others if they ask and we...inform them. Never judge. (unless they are satanic in which case you wont see us having lunch together if ya get my meaning)
Now the sibling part. Wiccans believe in the Lord and Lady. Not just the Goddess. In part they are the same person which is very complicated. We also believe that the christian God and the Lord and Lady are the same person as well. It all depends on the point of veiw. Christians believe that ther God is Everything as do we. Its as if God is a diamond. Each facet of the diamond is a God in each religion. Together they make up one being which is the...creator. Your not wrong to assume a connection but you also have to remember that Wicca, Witchcraft (The Craft), and Neo-Pagans are diffrent in a not that diffrent way. Think of it like this. Paganism is the father, the root of the religions if you will. From that you get Wicca and The Craft or The daughters. Basic twins except one CAN be a bit darker than the other (The Craft). Not to say that The Craft is all black magic of course! Its just that Wiccans are right next to Hindus in the Most Hippie Religions catagory. Did this help at all? Im just trying to be helpful:)
leudai I have to disagree when you said " unless they are satanic in which case you wont see us having lunch together if ya get my meaning"
Many of us Wiccans will sit down with a satanist and have lunch, I know I have several times and have several friends who are satanists. You are taking the approach that they actually worship an entity called "satan" I take it? Those types of satanists are actually very rare, most satanists actually believe that satan is a kind of ego, it's part of everyone, not that it's an actual entity of evil, that's a HUGE misconception about that particular faith.
Although the rest was a bit jumbled, the rest I can agree with.
I would have to agree with the creator of this post.
What she has stated makes sense if one actually stops to take into consideration to what was said.
I am a Bastised Catholic and attend a Catholic school, ( But am a Practiser of the craft) I had this same argument with my Religion Teacher... I agree, the 2 religions are very much the same, and they are at each others throats because of it!
You are actually only semi-correct about Wiccans not bashing others religions, Leuedai. I know the religious theology behind Wicca says you should not bash others, however that being said in the religion (as in all religions) there are those who bash others.
In the past I have had issues with a few members of the religion looking down on me (much as some Christians would) because I don't believe in every faucet of the religion. Its not a matter of the religion says you do this as it is a matter of so-and-so does this. I'll be it the Rede and other instructional pieces that make up the religion are interpreted according to the reader, but this also links into a similarity because Christians do so with the Bible as well.
I agree with the creator of the post, however some of her wording could be more accurate, such as instead of the religions bashing each other (because religions are inanimate nouns and therefore cannot bash) some of the members of the religion bashing each other.
I'm not saying all Wiccans and Christians bash each other (and others) rather I am saying that some of each group do so to each other (and others).
That is exactly why Christianity has different sects within it. People didn't believe everything that other people believed in. I don't know why most people don't take that into account, just because they believe something is true doesn't make it true for everyone.
it isn't possible to believe in both is there because i sing in a choir in a cathedral and i practice witch-craft i pratially think its wrong but, it is a dissicion i'll have to make.
