I do agree with the majority of what Darkked has said. If someone is simply misinformed, they should not be shunned for simply being ignorant (unless they refuse to accept new knowledge).
To add onto what he has said, there is an issue, too with people who come here claiming to be well versed in whatever practice and suck in those who want to learn. This is a huge problem. There are people here who should not be teaching anyone except themselves, and they have multiple students all 'learning' their nonsense. What makes this even more complicated is when these people drag their so called students into chat to defend them if someone calls them out. Any existing topic is derailed and replaced with nonsense and arguing.
An age restriction will not help here. I have seen people older than myself on chat making idiots of themselves, restricting the age to a higher number will not do anything.
Who are we to say we know the rules of nature if there are any at all. Many people have different experiences with magick, just because you haven't experienced something doesn't mean it is not real. Also there are new members joining every day (i think) and some of them may have not seen discussions so it does no good to blast at them.
I see and understand most of the points being given here, but why are the Fae lumped in with mermaids and vampires and all that? Faery Magick has a valid path, rooted in Celtic lore. Many other types of spirits are largely believed in, but there are some that most people automatically think others think are physical. Faery practitioners are not fluffy, neither are ones of Dragon Magick either.
There are so many things we can clear up if we don't assume something out of another and understand the context the person is using.
There are, in fact, rules that govern nature and thus rules that govern magick. Yes, many people have different experiences, but these experiences are similar, and thus that is how we have formed the basics of magick as well as the steps towards advanced work. It is through these similarities that we find the stepping stones in magick. So to say that being a "half demon" is possible is pure nonsense. To say that flying through magick, without any evidence proving such has been done or is possible, is nonsensical. If it is possible, HARD evidence should be brought to the discussion and not wild claims.
That being said, With rules there comes the need to accept these rules. No, not everything is possible, from what we now know. As for the new members bit, it's true, but those coming here making wild claims should be dealt with appropriately (gag, fluffed, ban hammer, all the fun tools of eradicating the oncoming scourge of fallacy=D )
From what I have seen of this site most are very serious about the craft as am I. Its my religion, it replaces where I grew up hearing I was going to hell for having sex before marriage or I had to give the church 10% of my income while some of the members were the meanest most hypocritical people on the planet. So rude or not? Well not! I think its pretty apparent this is a serious sight and when u have those who won't except the truth it is ridiculous. It says they are not here to learn from people who have been in the craft longer. On the flip side I think these spells should be removed and not allowed on the site. It sort of does not make sense to keep the mods aggrivated tryin to keep youth educated with spells saying they can be a. Mermaid!
I agree with you 100% I used to belong to a church and they told that I can't talk to my friends because they were"sinful" yeah right one guy named John Scott was being a jerk so I turned around and clocked him right in the jaw with my fist that really made me feel good after that they did not talk to me which was okay
Main problem is people are lumbing everything together you can't do that with people just makes a big mess. Every case of "fluffy" is individual because each person is an individual. You can't just lump it all together and expect things to go right thats like giving one type of medicine to every person who coughs. You know how many doctors have to deal with "my head hurts" "im coughing a lot" every day? Do they quit? Do they say f you get out? No they try to help thats the main issue with this site they dont help anyone! They post things and think oh im done. The chat was made for a reason to discuss and ask questions right now its just gossipia land of who cares. Barly any questions are asked and answered with respect anymore all ti is oh what did you do today. Its fine to do that but when a question shows up you shouldn't immediately dismiss it just to go back to that.

it's true sometimes people can be harsh, but majority respond trying to explain but how the person asked has a huge effect on what the response will be. if 'randomuser123' asked 'i would like to become a vampire, is this possible?' there's a greater chance this person will receive kinder words than if 'randomuser123' said 'i'm going to become a vampire, and you can't stop me, tell me how right now. and if you don't i know you're lying cuz so-and-so told me they were a vampire so i'm right!' then they're going to be met with hostility.
the belief in these beings, like Fae, as spirits or energy used to help us in spell casting in much the way you would call forth watchtowers or deities, i personally don't see any problem with, and i don't think many people do. i know of some that do mind because they don't believe in it, but like the examples above, one is met with a lot less hostility for these beliefs than ones held by a person convinced they can transform into said being.
some beliefs are more faulty than others, sometimes dangerous. i've come across spells to transform into other creatures that can be very deadly, one for werewolves involved draining all the blood from you and replacing it with wolf blood. while most people would know it wouldn't work, there's still one or two who would try it. also, hate to say it, we in the Pagan community need to fix our image, and people running around believing they can change into such creatures, or telling people they're on the same physical plane as us, isn't helping. Paganism is all about growth and education, we need to teach people what magic can and can't do, hopefully getting the word out there that we are not obsessed LARPers or something. [granted some of use probably do LARP (Live Action Role Play) but that's not the point]
i study Dragon Magick, my friend studies Fae Magick, and another works with Mermaids. none of believe they're physically real, none of us go around swearing they're living on earth, we don't try to become these beings, we call upon their energy in our casting and magic work. that's fine. i tell people if they believe in vampires, blood magick, maybe try to live a lifestyle of a sanguine vampire. werewolves, shamanism, or look into animal totems, but you can not go around trying to become one, or swearing they're physically real. there may be a slim chance they are, i do hold out like a 1% sliver of hope. but without actual proof, you cannot demand you are correct. that does sort of go with those of us who say they're not physically real, but there are facts to back up are claims, historical mostly, but there is some scientific. all these beings though are astrally real, so if you wish to deal with them, do so there.
