Good advice, above. Find one that you feel is right for you. My witch teacher never called up a God or Goddess by name; she called upon My Lord and My Lady. I still do!

If you are unsure how to get started begin with a pantheon that calls to you. Then research the different gods within it.

If none of the gods feel "right" then you needn't worship any at all.

If you are new to Wicca and not certain which God and/or Goddess you feel a connection to then the simplest thing is to start out by simply addressing them as "Lord" and "Lady" without any specific names attached to them. Later you may find yourself called to serve specific Deities, but in the beginning using generic names is fine.

If you want to create a relationship with specific Deities then one of the best ways is to start by reading the mythologies of various cultures. Is there one where the stories seem to connect to something deep within you? Is there one where you feel drawn to their Gods and practices? If that is the case then start looking more closely at that pantheon.

Most often we don't pick the God or Goddess with whom we will have a relationship...they pick us. You can help this process by letting the Universe know that you are open to such a relationship and asking that the Gods take you on as their child. Use this goal as a focus in meditation and in dreamwork and see whether you receive an answer there.

Remember too that having a relationship with a Deity is a two-way street. Once you have such a relationship then you have a responsibility to honor that Deity in your personal rituals. That might mean having an altar to that Deity, or making simple offerings to them on a regular basis. Remember that the Gods want to have a relationship with us just as we want to have one with them. They are our friends. But they are not our servants, nor are they a convenient ingredient for a spell.

A really good book on the subject of having a personal relationship with a Deity is "Devoted to You" by Judy Harrow.

Pretty much what most people have said here-they find YOU. You just have to take notice for signs. Do your homework and research different Gods/Goddesses. If one catches your attention, do more research by going to the library, online searches, etc. Sooner or later, they'll take notice of you.

In my personal experiences with pantheons, the Egyptian one had always caught my attention since I was a kid. By the time I was deity searching, I found Bast, the cat goddess. Since then, I have had incidents with cats in dreams and in real life. One time, I approached a cat that had never met me before and she purred, as if she knew who I was. I was more than confident to say that Bast was my Goddess. I have three others, but right now, I'm focusing a lot on Bast, since she (and Isis) are like the mother figures I need at the moment.

Gods-wise, I remember two specific gods that caught my attention in my research-Thoth (or Tehuti as I call him) and Horus. I knew more about Horus from the mythology book I read when I was little. He is a falcon god, son of Osiris and Isis. He reclaimed his rightful spot on the throne after his uncle, Set, took it after Osiris's death. Now, I have had incidents where there would be a falcon hovering above me in the sky. I knew instantly it was him. He even came to my high school graduation back in June, bringing me to tears.

Tehuti is a moon god, who gives me reassurance and safety when I'm walking home at night. I live in a dangerous neighborhood, but every time I look up at the moon, I smile and continue walking. His name came to me in a dream, which confirmed to me that he is another one of my gods.

As for Isis, she has only sent me a message in a dream once. Ma'at and Seshat give me knowledge and common sense when I'm tackling something difficult, work-wise. As of right now, my journey is with Horus and Bast, who have get through various struggles in life.

Many yes, pray to, worship, or work with more than one deity.

Although, praying to a deity in relationship to what they represent is one way to work with them. There are multiple others, many listed in this thread.

In short yes. You can pray to more than one deity for different purposes.
