in real magic circles and covens, experience does not determine the capability of a witch or wizard. these labels are nonsense considering that there are no levels of experience, we are all on the same level. the same line. this is a basic teaching of wicca. and obviously, the admins have neglected it.
Personly I don't look to much at ranking or labels given by others.
Or based upon a system.
Tho I se the point of where it can be 'discrimenating'
That's not only here. But in the world and 'beond' ower existion.
Another problem if is someone don't agree with what one say. They might not 'grade' them.
Even tho there might be much 'truth' in what they say.
Or that they tell it theyr way.
There are manny difrent things, that in general are the same.
Non the less. Knowlege and wisdom arnt something that so easily be graded.
But it can be usagebell. As longe as one take all in consitherration:)
Well I do find it a bit offensive, I mean, I'm beginner but I know a got bit about magick. REally, it is worthless. You want to know someone's magickal knowledge, talk to them!
You asked last time one of the moderators has helped someone. Well awake, kts, and spirit has helped me recently. Don't hate because of the way you are labled. I am a beginner says this thing though I have been practing magic for seven year close to eight. You don't hear me complaining. Its a site not the end of the world grow up.

This thread's almost a year old, but I wanted to have my say in it if no one minds...
I think if you genuinely feel like you take the craft seriously and you, yourself know so much for your own personal gain, it really wouldn't matter what rank you are on this site. On my spare time I read on nothing but crystals, herbs, runes, and tarots. I feel like there are certain aspects of the craft that I know more than some of people that are younger than me and are ranked as beginners and novices (I really don't mean to offend anyone!), but I personally don't care that I have no rank. Not too long ago, yes I asked what you do to change your reputation, but I didn't get butt hurt about it.
I can understand what Sage feels because I've read about half of these people feeling the same, but what can you do?? It really is just a site. I get on here to help others who really need it and am blunt to those who just love to roleplay. I myself even come on here for help, but for the most part, I just read, read, read. I buy books and I buy tools to practice. If the mods see that then hooray for me. Otherwise, they are just online ranks. Only you know what your are most knowledgable in.
For what it's worth Sage, I can tell you know a lot. 50+ years is a lot of experience. Just hang in there. :)
there is an actual forum about the ranks, but it's good to have it somewhere so people can find it better. personally, i don't care too much about the ranking system [even when i was unranked] true, i find it a little insulting someone with years of experience could be dubbed a 'novice' i don't claim to know everything, nore do i say anyone does. novice was orriginally called something else. perhaps renaming it something would be good, but over all just ignore them, they're pretty useless, they're jst a way o show who you should listen to, and even then i don't think the people who can vote change it often. if you are voted to knowledgeable, however, you can rank people yourself. personally i think a lot of people would abuse that power. just ignore it, though i hope the rename novice once more, perhaps 'advanced' i think it was orriginally 'intermediate' that seems to work better.
Knowledgeable was originally Intermediate.
The idea of being choosy with who is ranked up to knowledgeable or adept I believe is so that power is less likely to be abused. Yes, many people would abuse it, and yes, it is most likely being abused. I feel the system has potential to be more than just another feature members either despise or ignore seeing as the original reason for it is to have people with subjective enough opinion to nominate who can actually help where there is inquiry.
I now would agree with Nekoshema that one shouldn't be offended by it since I've been opened to a bit more information on the subject. I also realize that certain people are teachers and might find it difficult to have someone listen when they've been ranked beginner or such, but I believe it's still being worked on.
I think the whole issue has for the most part, calmed down and fewer people take it so seriously.
I mean, there have been people ranked knowledgeable on one account, and fluffy on one of their alternate accounts.
