Windigo physchosis is a mental diease where people believed they were turning into a flesh eating being, craving human flesh. Though this illness itself at one time was believed to be a myth, we are now seeing examples of it. Here in Florida a while back, a man killed, and was eating his victim when police found him. The police shot him several times while he continued to eat, unbothered by the pain he must have felt. Finally the officer was forced to shoot him in the head. Later it was discovered that the man had a history of mental illness, and was using bath salts ( a drug that was legal at the time ). The combination of the drug, and mental illness may have triggered a state of windigo phsychosis.

It is not insulting to say that somebody "lives in a fantasy world". Fantasy is just another word for imagination. All children live in a fantasy world. Look at some of the great authors of "fantasy"; Lewis Carroll, Terry Pratchet.
Adults who "live in a fantasy world", see many things with "wonder!". They remain childlike, as Hans Christian Anderson.
(Childlike! Not Childish!)

Actually vampires and werewolves do exist in this world. They blend into society and so no one would suspect them to live here. Same with shifters and other beings that aren't totally human. Its odd and sometimes hard knowing you're different than others but its important to not stand out.
