I don't think you need to worry too much about the fae, you're unlikely to attract anything overly powerful, probably just the minor ones that live among nature. All the same, it's still a good idea to have some kind of protection spell around. I have a ward against negative energy around my house that works just fine (no I don't have a spell for it).

They are attracted to thyme plants. I found this out the hard way. I love thyme and had a pot on my balcony. Things began disappearing and I would find tiny shells on my floor! I don't live near a beach so goodness knows where they came from. I looked it up and sure enough, little air fae like thyme.

So I began setting out honey and little sweets. Even just a small bit of chocolate (like a hershey's kiss) and things like glass stones that glimmer in the light. It worked because I don't have any trouble with them, and they're protective little things! During Beltaine, I invited them to the dinner (just outloud announced it) and my mother in law was throwing insults at me unknowing of our invisible guests. Let's just say she had the most unlucky day ever! She was tripping and dropping things constantly. She burnt herself on the stove and set fire to a towel! Nothing serious, but hilareous! I was laughing so hard!

As long as you are nice to them, they're fun to have around, especially if you have mean mother in laws! =p

depending on what type of fae your trying to attract depends on what you use. You can leve treats of honey and milk and other sweets and offerings.
Sylphs like most fea, like all types of wild flowers, Djinn like firey things, but can be extreamly dangerus, Nymphs like clean and moveing water, Gnomes like dirt, herbs, and crystals. When dealing with fae use cation and some form of protection.

Fae are merely nature spirits! Do you really think they invite you into their lands and you can't eat, drink or dance there or you'll be trapped there forever? Or better yet changelings? Come on now!

Fae are just spirits, they're very childlike in nature, therefore they can be mischievious, play and have temper tantrums if they are ignored. They're not dangerous. The only way they hold any danger is if you're stupid and follow an orb of theirs in woodland areas, because (being mischeivious) they may lead you somewhere that you can get lost or hurt. But I can't possibly see how they are any more dangerous than a common spirit. That's just a silly superstition created by drunks who had a little too much ale and whiskey!

Back then people blamed any problem on spiritual forces because science wasn't advanced at all and it was an explaination they could make sense with. If you were sick, it was demons, curses, or vengeful fairies. If you were mentally ill, you were possessed. If a child died, it was a changeling, or a demon took it's breath away. I think it's time to step into the modern age and accept that 95% of our problems are scientifically and psychologically explainable.

Like anything, there are ill natured fae and good natured ones. But if you have protection on your home against spiritual nasties, then only good ones will be welcomed anyway! Please, of all things, don't be afraid of fae. If you're a witch, why are you fearing spirits? I respect all, and fear none. If a spirit has ill will and doesn't leave with a warning--well, it was warned. =)

Every women in my family, (except my mom) has seen a "little winged person". I used to see them all the time as a kid and I feared them! That was because my parents never told me what they was and of course, being human, I feared what was different. Around age eight, I began calling for them again, and they came. They are fun to have around, they can bring a lot of positive energy to you and theywill leave you gifts at times if you're lucky enough.

As the other replies say, just leave them little offerings and such, just think positively of thm and they should be positive towards you.

I have never seen a fairy, or any type of "the little people", but I like to think they are there! My old witch teacher would put out a little plate of food every night. The food always disappeared by morning, and my teacher would smile and say,"Could be the little ones; could be the hedgehogs."
I still do it every night!
