Music is magical and the many different kinds of music speak different things to different people. What I find to be good meditation music depends on what I am meditating on or for. Many would also disagree with the music I meditate to at time. I suggest finding what type of music works best for you. Personally of the three things you have listed I would go with vocal lyrics.

go with the thing you feel most connected to. Or the one you feel best about. Because that means you could have a connection with that instrument ( or vocals) and from there you can express what your trying to express through the music you play.

"Music is a key to the soul" said a famous author (i forget who)
and i beleive it to be true.

I agree with Kao,I only use music sometimes but Tribal drumming (or any music where the druming and beat are dominant)does seem to resanate, and make drifting easier for me.

Hmm sounds complicated, How would you use the lyrics or other to trance people?

Well think of the first way someone did this to you. A lullaby is the first form of music magic that we come into contact with. As a mother I can tell you that as you sing the words you must also think about what you want to happen. With my children I would always see in my minds eye my child's eyes getting heavy and their head resting on my shoulder. It worked very well for me most of the time!

oh.. ok it makes abit of sense, so a lullaby uses trance. If you sung something then played it backwards would it act as a trance?

I guess it could, I have never tried it. I do wonder sometimes what some songs would sound like if you reversed the notes.
