If you really "believe" that the necklace will protect,then it probably will! I have a silver pentacle on a silver chain, also a piece of natural Amethyst set in silver,also on a silver chain. I wear them for protection against "negative" energy. They seem to work for me. (I only take them off in the bath!). When I say "believe" I mean auto suggestion. If you think it will,then it will.
Have to agree with brysing here, if you believe it will protect you it will, simply because in your own mind you will feel protected so little things that would play on your mind would go un-noticed as your belief is with your protection.
There are many ways you could do this. Here is one gas floating around for a while.
Sprinkle the Amulet with salt.
"I consecrate you with the element of Earth."
Pass the Amulet through the incense.
"I consecrate you with the element of Air."
Pass the Amulet through candle flame.
"I consecrate you with the element of Fire."
Sprinkle the Amulet with water.
"I consecrate you with the element of Water."
Pick up the Amulet, and hold it up high for God to behold.
"You are now consecrated in the name of all the holy Saints.
Place Amulet back on altar Pentacle.
Place hands over the Amulet.
Visualize a Brilliant light from above pouring into the Amulet.
"I charge this Amulet to serve as (name that which you desire its purpose to serve)
for I [your name or magickal name] a servant of God Almighty."
"I charge this Amulet by God Almighty:
I charge this Amulet by the virtues of the Sun, Moon, and Stars

anyway thanks to every body help me believe in this topic.
I did this ritual for my necklace. It's not a pentagram : star with cirle. It's a symbol : a small pentagram with the wings.So I want to blessing it for protection. But after I did the ritual with earth, air,water,fire and god. I want to se the result after the ritual by ask my tarot deck, after many times it said ' nothing in this necklace'.althought I really believe and visualize the power into necklace. from 2 months ago , I still try...
Most necklaces, especially ones in magical shapes like pentacles or ankhs have natural Protective energies and potential. Normally Charging it should be enough. Otherwise, you need to imbue it with several shielding spells depending on what you want to protect from.
What you would probably want to do is program it much like you would program a crystal. Cleanse it by washing in salt water or by smudging with sage or sweetgrass, ect. and then charge it either by holding it in your hand and visualizing white light flooding it, or by leaving it under the full moon. Then you can program it by holding it and, basically, telling it what you want it to do.
Hold/cup the necklace in your hands then imagine protective energy (meaning energy specifically for protecting) pouring from your body up down through your arms and out to in your hands and into your necklace. When you think you've poured enough energy into it, "cut off" the energy flow and finish it off. (like when cut off a piece of string and use the rest of it.) Then wola!
