you still do not understand.... self possession is confidence, it is having control over how you express yourself. A small child will have a temper tantrum when they get angry, a mature person who is self possessed will not express their anger in such a way. It is simply exercising emotional self control rather than acting out like a child.

Do you you mean allowing anther entity to enter you?

Yes, but judging by his answers is there a chance he means something else other than Self Possession and is using unusual phrasing?

Well im sure there are alot of ways to do it. The basic way to do it would be to simply tell your body to relax and allow the spirit to gain control. If the spirit is powerful enough it will be able to do all the hard work as long as you are allow it in. However for more physical results im sure there are things you can do to make it easier for the spirit, I dont know what these would be. Im sure you know this but its best to only let spirits you trust do this.

Probably the two major reasons its done are, knowledge, but also to gain through proxy, power and abilities you do not normally have.

I believe shamans (but I could be mistaken) practice what you are talking about, maybe look into that a little.
