Many people have claimed to have telepathic abilities, but no one has ever successfully demonstrated actual telepathy. So I would have to agree with the idea that telepathy exists. You can learn to tell in general what a person you know might be thinking through body language, facial expressions, etc. But actually hear their thoughts? Nope,
A) I was pretty new when I learned how to, but it varies for everyone. Don't be discouraged if it's hard for you.
B) I'm a Telepath and I can't Astral Project. I don't think the two have much in common.
C) Well, you can read the thoughts that are sent to you or with someone you connect with, but they're in the form of ideas and feelings so it's very vague. You get more of an idea of feelings than thoughts.
I don't claim to be able to demonstrate Telepathy. Psychic arts are rarely easily demonstratible, if they are demonstratible at all. Me and a few people I have close ties with have been able to achieve Telepathic contact for energy sharing. I also use it to talk to Spirits. These are my own personal experiences. People can believe or not as they feel like.
Talking with spirits and exchanging energy is not telepathy.
Understanding the feelings of others with whom you are connected is not telepathy.
Telepathy is actually hearing the words in the head of the person who you are trying to listen to with your mind, not getting vague senses of their feelings.
Telepathy could be easily demonstrated for others. You have a couple of people who are the subjects. One tries to tell the other exactly what they are thinking, in words. Even better the two people should not be in the same room so it can't be written off as simply reading body language. And also better if the two people don't know each other. If this can be reliably repeated using different subjects then it could be said that there is solid evidence for telepathy.
There was once a husband and wife who said that they could "read" each other's thoughts. They made world wide news, demonstrating when hundreds of miles apart. They did it with one in a high flying aeroplane the other on land. With one in a submarine,the other on land.
It was all proven to be a fake. They were using a very complicated code. When they were told to write down the thoughts, they failed, every time!
From what I've seen it hasn't been proven scientifically. Does it exist at all? I don't know. But you should be skeptical of people who claim to have it, especially if they are asking for money. This is one of those things people can fake by intuition or "cold reading."
