Your element truly is what you are most drawn to. The stars no longer line up exactly to the months, which I think can mess with people's psyches (those who really get into astrology and OMG WHAT'S YOUR [sign] !?! stuff)... I'm not exactly sure where the stars line up now, but your "sign" (and corresponding element) is dependent on the stars, not the date you were born on. Where I think it messes with people is that a person can be born, say, a Scorpio and so naturally they are interested in their sign. They may astrologically and technically be a Sagittarius (the sign following Scorpio on the calender). They'll learn about all these Scorpio traits and ailments, pros and cons, whatever, and it becomes more of a self-fulfilling prophecy rather than fate.

So, being a Gemini, your element is Air... and it sounds like you do like Air :) Just go with the flow!

Try working with all the elements separately, see which feels best. I am a Water element by birth, which I hold true to. But I also have a love of Fire and Air. My Eastern zodiac element is Metal, which fits me as well :3 I think Eastern zodiac goes by the actual calender rather than the stars, and I've found through studying the dynamics of my own family, that the Eastern elements of Earth, Fire, Water, Metal, and Wood hold true more than being a specific Sign. My only quirk is that I consider Wood and Metal under the Earth category, but oh well XD
