A solitary wouldn't be considered Wiccan by their peers would they Lark? maybe I am mistaken, but you have to be at least a 1st Level intitiate in a lineaged coven to be recognized by your peers as /a Wiccan, I mean what Wicca is and what Wicca is not.

Some people only recognize Wiccans who can trace their initiation lineage back to Gerald Gardner and his coven. Other people don't necessarily believe you have to be traced back to him, but still won't recognize any solitary initiate. Their argument is that Wicca is a closed religion with specific traditions and rituals while other others argue that you can be a solitary because the Goddess and God are the ones initiating you as they're the ones to actually teach you the mysteries of the universe.
Truthfully, it all depends on who you ask. If you're wanting to be Wiccan as Gardner and his coven were, then you'd want to be initiated through his lineage or coven.

Yes, Lark, everything you have written is true, especially about Valiente, and others who came on the scene at about the same time, All I am saying is that the "idea" of Wicca was much earlier. It was at the time when Gardner, Sanders, Crowley, and others, were trying to get the British government, and the British public, to accept witchcraft as a religion. Because at that time, witchcraft was against the law. That is why the first book of Gardner's was written as fiction.

Lol, oh Sue, did you even read the post? Wicca is a very peaceful religion that tries to help [and as my friends and I always say 'a Wiccan extremist is no danger to anyone but themself' because they are harm none vegans] your argument falls flat as a result of one glaring fact; there is no devil in the craft. We have a 'Horned God' but his horns are more antlers. He is a loving father figure who lays down his life at the harvest so we may live [mythos] true, he and the Goddess have 'dark' elements to them [war for example] but I haven't met a Wiccan who has ever called on these elements of the Lord and Lady. Please read some pinned forums in this section and try again. [And as mentioned all caps is against the rules]

Wicca is a very spiritual path, and is treasured for those who decide to follow it. I absolutely agree with Lark, with much correction.
For years Wicca has been associated with satanic practices, when in reality it was full of ritual, and nature worshipping. I honestly believe that for those who accuse Wicca is satanic should in reality, learn truth instead of lies. Don't just believe everything people are telling you too, it want get you very far. Nekoshema made a valid point, one that I think is actually true.
If you have been told something is wrong, you tend to start to believe it. This however is why we end up in the end, bashing each other and making war. In Wicca or paganism it is widely known that we should believe What we want, as long as we harm no one. In reality we should think before our words, and actually see if you too know the truth. Good luck, I hope you realize it. Good post overall Lark .
Can I ask few questions? Greatly appreciated i answered... =)
Do I need to surrender my religion if I wan t to be a wicca? and what are the considerations need to become one?
Oh thank yo so much!

Melastiq, if you want to be Wiccan then you need to follow the Wiccan religions. It's a simple as that. If you continue following your old religion then you aren't Wiccan.
On the other hand, you don't have to be Wiccan to practice magic. Magic doesn't necessarily have any relationship to any particular religion. There is no reason you could not continue to be Christian (I'm assuming that's your religion) and practice magic or even witchcraft. But you cannot be both Christian and Wiccan. The beliefs of the two religions are in conflict with each other.

The nature based really surprised me. I always thought it was, but either way I love nature. I am surprised how accurate I am with this religion. It's hard to find pure information. The only difference I have is, I am a follower of Gaia instead of the Moon Goddess and don't completely believe in reincarnation.

When people talk about a " nature religion " they are generally saying that they believe Wiccans worship things like trees, rocks, the physical moon, etc. And of course this is not the case. It is true that Wiccans work with natural energies, as do others, but we don't worship nature itself. And the primary focus of Wicca isn't about nature, it's about honoring the Lady of the Moon and the Horned Lord.
