Nekoshema obviously meant "non Asian child". Don't be so quick to accuse racism.

I'm white, my boyfriend is white, we shouldn't name our kids Goku, Ame and Miyuki because the kids would have to constantly correct people who try to pronounce the name, kids would make fun of them, and despite what people say, there are names that when you hear it you think 'white' or 'black' or 'Asian' it's just a part of life. It doesn't mean racism, it's a sociological issue. Perhaps in 100 years things will change, but right now it's a factor you need to consider. That's all I meant airhead.

Acantha is a beautiful name, but it all depends on what you want your child to be associated with.

Like Nekoshema said, do you really want your childs name to reflect a god or goddess? Personally i would not. Children, especially teenagers(i am one speaking) can be so rude, and viscious. You never want to be laughed at or, judged due to a name.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if you named you child Aphrodite...in older years, what would happen? Do you really want a child named Pan, Apollo, Demeter?

Try thinking of names. Say you want Ariana hood for your daughters name. Think of the child, how a name can immediatly identify or associate something. If you like Ariana Hood, use it! Try Ariana for the first name, Hood for middle, ect. Change the spelling.

Good luck.

For a girl- Ariadne, Dione, Diana, Grace, Phoebe, Selene, Thalia, Sabrina.

For a boy- Adonis, Damon, Castor, Dylan.

This are the names I thought that people in today's society won't have a problem with.

why would you name your child after a god or goddess we humans are mere mortals and the gods are all powerful eternal beings
to name a mortal after a god itself could be perceived that humans and gods are equal which is preposterous.

Simon, in a way i disagree with you. Some choose to name their children based on religion, or deities to whom their connected with.

Some may choose Selene, or Ariana, even Demeter. This is not an insult to gods, or a veiw of equality. Some choose it, in honour of the deity. Some may choose it, so the deity may protect the child, or bless them.

This isn't rude in my opinion, far fetched and perpetious, to be, honest.

Calliope for a girl is pretty, but I can't think of a boy's name that won't get him bullied through elementary school.

I have a mere suggestion, if i may add. For a boy, why not, possibly name them from a hero. Percy, comes to mind(perseus, greek demigod) It's more easier to think of a name, that way. Possibly Dylan, Odin, may work too.

I have several pets that I have named after deities or wights I am interested in, not to be disrespectful to those deities or wights but simply because I enjoy the thought of them and I enjoyed their names. I have a dog named Kalypso, and another dog named Pandora. Among other things.

I think you should choose a name that is related to a deity or wight, or person from myth, that you are particularly interested in. I feel like that holds more meaning that just picking a name that sounds or looks pretty.
