Runes

What are there precise function?

I know know how to read Elder Futhark runes, I just studied them a bit...just incase I needed them for some type of ritual and/or spell.

Read them as in divination? or Like reading Theban alphabet.. I mostly use them like i do my tarot cards but occasionally i'll inscribe them on candles to utilize their powers.. do more studying

runes are the ancient language of words before letters, so each letter is in essence a power word or invocation of a spirit, you use them in ritual or spell work for meaning and symbology. many druids have a set of ruines hand made (when making your own divination or symbolic tools you transfer your own life energy into your tool so it has more attunement with your body and your energies) and use these runes in everything from divination (looking into the spiritual workings of life - influences and bad energies) aswell as in healing rituals to represent specific healing energies called into effect to bind them there till the task is done, they can also be used in sigils (a written or drawn representation of a hope, wish, thought, or spell) your energies charge the sigil as you draw it, and then you let go of it (never think of it again) while burning the sigil. use your own understandings to define your use of them.

Read Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic by Edrid Thorrsen. He has a great grasp on the meanings and purpose of the runes.

There`s also this reeeeeeealy awsome website created by a Runemaster that will teach you everything there is to know about the runes. The site is sunnyway.com/runes. There are a lot of great runecharms there along with instructions on diferent ways to use them and lots of great Norse mythology and stories!
